We no doubt live in a broken and fragmented world characterized by undeniable fearfulness. So where can we find hope? While secular optimism looks to what might happen someday, Christian hope is based in the assurance of what has happened already. Alistair Begg explains that by bowing beneath Christ’s supremacy and being absolutely convinced of the sufficiency of His work, we can find stability, steadfastness, and perseverance in the hope of the Gospel.

I used to catch some of his sermons on our christian radio station in the car - until I checked youtube and subscribed. Now I usually go to sleep with the day's sermon :) So love his accent! And the truth he preaches!!

I enjoy listening to the Gospel expounded by Alistair Begg, John MacArthur, Voddie Baucham and the late RC Sproul. The Word of God rips me to pieces, grinds me up and let's me know just how awful and wretched I truly am. And then mends me and gives me hope- not of my own doing, but by the Person and works of Jesus Christ. Four distinct men, to whom we find their teachings and exegeses of the Gospel as the same which, to me, seems as the Apostles in which the Spirit of God/Jesus worked so diligently. Just in their different styles or ways of preaching and writing of the Gospel. And then we look at Who the real Teacher is, the Lord Jesus Christ, and it comes to no surprise.

Pastors like Alistair are like Churchill… they only occur once ever 100 years or more. He teaches the Bible with clarity and relevance so that: Unbelievers will be converted. Believers will be established and the local church strengthened.

IMHO the Babylonians invented fluorescent lights to torment the eyes of us who are sensitive to such brightness. I think and listen much better without bright lights. Regardless of the lighting, Jesus and his church will overcome!!

Why does he start his sermon with an anecdote about British songwriters and Nashville when the title of this sermon refers to hope in Christ alone? This is the uneasiness I feel about Alistair Begg with his feet in two worlds and why I listen to Don Green instead: I should have trusted my intuition and listened to Don Green instead. I didn't have the patience to get past the silly worldly introduction: if I lusted after the flesh, I could just watch TV. I couldn't care less about worldly British songwriters and Nashville, and if I did, I wouldn't have watched this video. What does leaving the world behind mean to Alistair Begg? The distracting drums in the background don't help either. And I see that he's abandoned the tie: all bad signs.

Wow. What a sad excuse for dismissing one of the churches most wonderfully gifted preachers today. Alistair is as rock solid as they come and the man bleeds Scripture. You are robbing yourself of a vast amount of Spiritual nourishment by rejecting to listen to the man, all because you have an over zealous desire to stay distanced from the world. A good desire to be sure, but you take it too far. You would do well to listen to Begg and do so often.
