As a grip in New York this is what actual, proper trucks look like. This is industry level information

For those of us in smaller markets where the trucks carry both G&E (and sometimes even camera,) getting a dedicated grip truck walkthrough is such a treat.

Glad to hear! I may try and do a tour of a 40ft grip trailer too, those get really massive.

@@chrisherr would be nice to get a camera truck tour as well! If work ever comes back

Hey Chris, thanks for doing this, it's always neat to see what folks keep on their trucks and why. Excited to see part 2!

Awesome! If you can you should do a tour of Nic Jones his console cart/gear.

That's a great idea! He's a wealth of information

I'd love to see this too. I would also like to learn about how he pre-visualizes the lighting for movers which you touched on in a previous video I believe.

Would love to see a dolly grips view 🤗 In Sweden our electrical department also cares for rigging and deffusion. Key grip and dolly grip is basically the same thing here.
@chrisherr10 ай бұрын
Oh interesting. I did work in Prague once and experienced the same thing, grips were purely focused on camera support. Electricians handled bounces and everything lighting and rigging related.
@graceybfrg10 ай бұрын
@@chrisherr exactly, grip aka camera support thats why I was surprised to only see one slider 😅

This is sick! Can you do a full Ronin build video, if you haven't already? Would love to see what goes into rigging it

Sure could! Any specific camera you'd want to see? Heavy hard builds?

@@chrisherr Big builds would be awesome. I run a Komodo/ Rs2 + Tilta Ring build, so I just don't know what goes into gimbal builds beyond that. Would love to see what legit setups look like.

@@anomaly_films cool, I could do a full Alexa 35 build with light ranger, Preston etc…

10 year DP confused by end of menace arm pieces and Speed C’s. Lol jk. Future DP’s, take note. Please come up in G&E. Learn the tools that enable your creativity. Your crew will always be impressed by your simplicity and assertiveness. Props to this DP for reeducating and refreshing the knowledge.
@chrisherrАй бұрын
My counter argument would be to lean on your crew and let them use their vast knowledge and expertise to achieve your vision instead of focusing on the micro of how things get done. It’s helpful to know the tools at your disposal for a number of reasons , but not necessary a lot of the time, that’s why we specialize.

Yoga mat is used for padding things like pipe or feet on cars so nothing gets scratched up.

I’m interested to know what classifies the tonnage of a grip truck? Is it the actual truck or is it the amount of grip/gear on the truck?
@chrisherr10 ай бұрын
It’s what the truck is rated for, not the actual weight. Most grip trucks are a bit overweight
