One critical fundamental point, which one gave you cleanest water after filtering? Isn’t that the point of the filter? The filters that appeared to wear better, possibly didn’t filter as well! Allowing sediments to pass through? Sorry, if I missed something in translation?

What I would love to see is a demonstration with a common household water pressure and realistic whole house filter housing for a family of 4. A 4.5in x 20in filter demonstration using variety of micron ratings would be a excellent test and provide substantial information to consumers.

I would have liked to have seen the water quality on the output side of the filter to see how much sediment if any, made it through.

exactly, who cares how much a filter weighs or the pressure drop if it's worse at getting the crap out of the water.

I'd like to see a followup! There are gradient-density blown filters that hold more sediment. Would love to see you back-flush the filters by reversing the water flow... I am going to make that possible on my 5-stage filtration system.

Hi, I have a question. While you adding sentiment, the reading on inlet gauge increased to 45 from 30s. Why is that?

Pleated has the most surface area so does last the longest. But the one thing I saw is that to fully wet the filters should have run them through housing to fully soak the filters for initial wetting. Poly will not absorb without pressure and same with spun filter. But good testing

Hi, need some help here. I use 20" x 4" water filters to filter diesel that i pump into my trucks. The fuel dispenser has a 0.5 hp motor and flow meter to read the dispensed diesel quantity. Where should this filter ideally be placed? I am currently using it before the pump so the sequence is- Filter > Pump > Flow meter. The system works fine but somehow i think that the pump makes more noise. Also i notice that the fuel has a lot of bubbles in it at the filter output. I haven't tried fitting the filter at the end position yet. I want the meter reading to be accurate. Which is the best sequence?

One of the critical tests in selecting a filter would be the micron rating of debris that does get through...just not sure how you would test without a lab. TDS maybe?

are the three filters the same micron rating? It would be nice to confirm the quality of the water leaving each, or how fast they fill to 20 grams or something to understand the bypass ratio/filter effectiveness.

I believe this how the filters should have been tested. Because it seems like his rating is backwards. The one the clogged up fastest is the one the stop more sediment.

Your test holds no water Just because it fit clogged faster or slower that only means that one removes more contaminants of the water but if you used them in a series they will filter the right way ... BUT you need to test on a loop test to see who cleans the water back to clear. Individually test in a loop dirty water and who filters faster.

First observation, get a real scale suited for the task. Performance? Not sure what you were trying to measure. Filtration is what you should have been measuring. Those that filter more will plug up faster for the given surface area. Also you needed a pressure regulator on the inlet.

Notice that the poly blown filter gained 11 ounces from a 1/3 cup of dirt than, while the pleated filter gained only 4 ounces from a full cup, and the string wound gained 10 ounces from 90% of the cup? The blown filter trapped more dirt by weight from 1/3 cup than the other two did from (almost full cups). That leads me to believe that the last 2 filters let a lot more dirt through, and reached failure with less actual dirt trapped in the filter - meaning more of the dirt had already gotten through before failure.
