Matt Davis, Kevin Merrow, and Mark Kephart head to Matt's home state of Utah for a 4 day elk hunt with two tags and their tradbows. The Highs and Lows will always make the most vivid memories, and this hunt did not disappoint. There are so many reasons we love hunting with the tradbow and the relationships built around them are second to none.

I've been traditional for 25 years and I'm glad to see more younger guys and gals fold over to it. The gadgets from 25 yes ago and the bows with sights and so on, it was like hunting with a rifle. Went trad and never looked back the benefits of so doing was well worth it. Next step is making my own bows , all the trad bow manufactures are just stupid expensive for some wood and fiberglass. Thay are pricing the regular Ole Joe like myself way out of there equipment. Nice film.

Great job guys. I'm a compound guy but I'm not foolish enough to believe there's no difference. Traditional is way harder and I loved watching the video. Great to see young guys doing it old style.

First off I have to say great work on a amazing film ...Me trying to switch from a compound to a traditional bow the struggle is real..I have alot of respect for this film and the effort you guys put into not only the video aspect of it but the time you have to take out of your day to get proficient with a traditional bow ..I really love seeing people my age shooting traditional .since everybody thinks shooting a traditional bow is only for the older generation .And sad but true the older generation that shoots trad does not believe in carbon arrows metal risers and even screw on broadheads.I hope with this video we can help merge the 2 generations and respect the fact it's all about simplicity and the respect for the game animals that we pursue ...I would love to see a video explaining the bow setups you boys are using ..once again great work and please keep the content coming ...keep hammering ...

Thanks for the kind words Ryan! The majority of trad guys we run into have the same mindset we do. Have fun with the switch and best of luck in all you do.

Ryan, first off, welcome to the tradbow community! As one of the "older generation" (I'm 63. When did THAT happen?) I must respectfully disagree with your comments. We welcome young shooters! Most of us recognize that age is irrelevant. I honestly don't know where you got the idea that it is only for old guys. The two generations are a lot closer in our views than some think. I know a lot of guys shooting carbons. And we were shooting screw-in heads on aluminum shafts in the 80's. I do shoot wood, but not because I'm anti-carbon. It's because I love making wood arrows and it's what I'm used to. Frankly, I've had a hard time tuning carbons to work in my set-up without putting too much weight out front. There's no question we agree on simplicity and respect. I believe the two generations need to reach out to each other and not let social media (and the keyboard warriors - both young and old - it produces) build a wall between us. There's a lot of opinionated, vocal guys on social media. Please don't lump in those of us who are not. Good luck this year and enjoy your trad journey!

Perhaps for another video - a good discussion on hunting ethics. If you draw blood, should you notch your tag? My personal choice is yes, when/if I draw blood and can't find the animal I will always notch my tag, especially if I think it is lung blood. Appreciate this video and your time at the end to thank the Lord and give Him praise! I am almost 66 and have been hunting for more than 50 years, the last 30+ with bow only.

Overall it's a good video. My only issue is that Matt clearly hit the first elk he shot with a good hit, the blood trail proved it. I am not sure, ethically, that the right thing to do was to shoot another elk. Just because you didn't find the first one, doesn't mean she didn't die and fill your tag.

Guys, I love what you are doing but you need to learn how to track foot prints and not just blood. you shot an elk. they make big tracks - learn how to follow them. You said you got lung blood so shes likely going down eventually. stop shooting so far. shorten your shot distance and understand the responsibility that comes with releasing an arrow. how long did you spend "tracking" her anyway? keep doing what you do but spend time learning to follow a trail!
