Currently own a 1989 Moto Guzzi Mille GT 1000 cc that I have had for 20 years. Once took me 120 miles on one cylinder at highway speed when one spark plug wire crapped out on a Sunday morning with no shops open. At almost 70 years old it has gotten too heavy to maneuver in and out of situations. Purchased a 2013 Moto Guzzi V7 Stone at more than 100 pounds less wet weight. Absolutely love it. Will stay with Moto Guzzi for the rest of my riding life. I have owned BMW, Laverda, Ducati, Moto Morini, Triumph, BSA, Zundapp, Indian, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Cagiva and loved them all for different reasons, but the fact that I can physically handle the weight of a bike that will cruise (illegally) at 85-90 mph for as long as I need, looks good, is reliable and affordable and unique, why shop anywhere else?- -Mike Battle--one more thing--those cylinders are great to rest your hands on at red lights in the winter.

Great video! Love your way of presenting the bikes. I've been on Guzzis since 1991 and, although I have owned many other brands, those crazy V twins have a magic to them. Currently on a '73 V7 Eldorado as a daily ride. Wonderful. Looking forward to seeing the new V100, next weekend I'll be at the factory for the big rally and presentation, as I'm only 80 miles away. This is interesting, because I'm a cruiser guy to my bones, but lately the more I look at this, I'd like to get one for my next bike. They're timeless and attractive and unique.

You did a great job reviewing this motorcycle! You said that you were struggling with finding the words to describe this bike and I totally get it. You did however, choose your words carefully and those that you chose seemed very fitting. Your audience could sense a lot of what you were trying to explain simply in the emotion in your voice. Again, nice work! I first rode a Moto Guzzi in Sicily in 1981. It was my cousin's 1973 California. I was just a teenager and I remember it felling as if I was riding a washing machine! I loved it. It felt so mechanical and seemed as if it was responding to my direct commands while shifting. I had ridden mostly Japanese dirt bikes and a few smaller (550, 650cc) road bikes prior to climbing aboard the beast so the feeling was quite foreign to me. About 15 years later I was back in Sicily and rode his Moto Guzzi Lemans 1000. I've always wanted one of these beauties. I think this is the year I'll be pulling the trigger!

I collected my new V7 yesterday I've had all sorts of hikes and this bike mystifies me and I like that It's agricultural, but so smooth it's light , but substantial and very reassuring to ride. I bought it to ride for a few months whilst I am back home and then resell, but honestly it's a keeper.

Very interesting and informative video, I am of a certain age and fell in love with Guzzi’s in the 70’s when I saw the Le Mans. Could never afford one though the closest I got was the CX500 Eurosport. Fast forward to today and the kids have grown and flown and I have finally got my Guzzi she’s a V7 special and I am not disappointed, like you say it’s very hard to describe the riding experience but the closest thing I can say is as you’re riding it’s like the bike is telling you “I got this” . I think what you are describing is the subtle lift you feel when you crack the throttle on a shaft drive bike. Many consider it a downside, but like you, I love it. 🙌

I was considering a Moto Guzzi before I settled on a Royal Enfield...it all came down to my measly budget....LOL....I would still love to ride one.....

It moves to the side because the crankshaft runs front to back. BMWs do it too. Bikes with crankshafts running side to side have the same reaction front to back, only it's not enough to compress the suspension, so no one notices it. Nature opposes changes. In electricity, if you increase the current thru an inductor a voltage proportional to the change will be developed in the inductor that bucks the change. Same thing here. The acceleration of the mass of the crank gets bucked by the mass of the motorcycle moving in the opposite direction.

I think the V7 is the sexiest bike out there. I really want one.

Rode a V5 in the olden days, around 1983ish, that my friend raved about. I just remember it handled brilliantly, you could brake in a bend because of the linked brakes, and it sounded like a car. Never quite got round to buying one. I keep considering this, but I think it's lacking a wee bit of the hooligan that a bike should have (for me at least)

I love the Moto Guzzi V7, but I've never owned one or even rode one. I would love to own a bliue V7 special, but due to health issues we were forced to go to a trike. I guess that's the cost of growning old. AS far as reliablity the CAliforniz Highway Patrol used Moto Guzzi years ago because they were so reliable. The first one I saw was back in the early seventies and I thought they were neat motocycles back then. I enjoy your In THe Loop videos, thank you for sharing. I think in order to comply with U.S and European regulaitons the 850cc engines will be liquid cooled within the next couple of years, just like the new Moto GUzzi V100. SO if you like air cooled engines you better but an 850 cc Guzzi now before they are gone.

Never ridden a Guzzi, but I owned a BMW R65, and I suspect the experience is similar. Longitudinal crank (like a rear-wheel drive car) makes shaft drive a natural. Automotive-type single-plate dry clutch feels very automotive, not a lot of vibration for a twin because of the engine layout. The torque reaction is also very automotive (but in a car the weight of the car hides it. If you really get on a powerful rwd car, though, you can see the hood tilt to the right). Just a nice concept for a motorcycle, though. Lots of engineering problems solved at the very start by the basic design. Simplicity. I wanna ride one!

Excellent video I ride Inline 4 cylinder Suzuki’s exclusively on the street but getting to old for sport bikes they’re just to uncomfortable looking to purchase a 2022 V7.

What I like about MG is they haven't made any attempt to be "retro". Guzzis just are what they are.

Drive shaft be great having no chain maintenance.

Just puchased a V7, its a bit like the old Honda CX500, to ride with a better seat height & with out the high up weight which the CX had!

I really liked my 2017 Moto Guzzi V7iii Special. Beautiful bike, fun to ride...but I sold it after a year to make room for a 1964 Triumph TR6 I had to have.

I've been riding BMW s for years and you only feel the tourq when starting the engine and reving in neutral! Giving it throttle and going through the gears you never feel it!

V7 stone is in the category with Triumph street twin and Yamaha xsr 900

Hello, I seen this bike store before from ol man running, I onced lived in Ohio and I loved it, beautiful state. I liked your video and I have a few questions. 1. I see you own an Interceptor with nobby tires on it, how does that bike do as an scrambler ? 2. I am interested on the V7 for its looks, I love the shape on the gas tank and the two cylinder heads sticking out, my only question is how is character of the bike? I don't want another sweing machine sounding engine. I don't want loud pipes so I don't have to hear the sweing sounds. I want an engine that actually has a grount to it, deep beefy sounding machine with a lot of character. 3. I heard the Royal Enfields although their engines are not that powerful they do have good sounding engines with a lot of character and that is what I am looking for. I have $9K to spend, I am trying to decide between the Street Twing, the V7, the Continental GT all those for their style and looks, but what I really want is a scramble, light trail bike that is not too tall, something that will do as good on the road as on a light trail. I think the Street Twin would probably be the smarter more practical bike, but I am hook on the looks and design of the V7. If Royal endfield would only put the Continental GT gas tank on the interceptor, that would make my desicion so much easier. I prefer the ergonomics of the interceptor but I think the fuel tank is ugly. The V7 and the continental GT have a much more apealing fuel tank. So the V7 is like the mix between the two Royal Enfield. I just don't want to depart from $9K into the unknown without having to try any of these bikes, I need to find a dealder that will let me try it so I can feel it, if it speaks to my heart, I am taking it home with me.

I'm a bit shocked about the road quality in the US. I think you can really see it in this video very good. I guess that may be one reason why American cars have such a soft suspension design most of the time. Bike is nice by the way :-)

Interesting re the dry clutch. How does that work with using friction zone ? Does it wear out faster or need more frequent servicing?

Thanks for the video, I have the V7 Special. An acquired taste certainly, but also addictive. But please don't hold the bike in gear with clutch in at the lights like you do, it's bad practice and will knock years off the life of your clutch release bearing!
