In the Mood for Life

Күн бұрын

The much-(delayed)awaited sequel to In The Mood for Porto! All of the footage were filmed in August earlier this year, when I captured all that glorious late-summer vibes and that breathtaking sunset over old Invicta city. I've probably said "beautiful" about 10 times here, as there is, indeed, so much beauty to discover and experience in Porto. It’s time to visit Portugal , and discover the best attractions in the world !
Enjoy this travel film, hit subscribe and stay tuned for more IN THE MOOD FOR LIFE episodes!"

@@inthemoodforlife_official well done video. Sadly the music is SEVILHANA and not Portuguese at all. We have many composers and bands from Portugal and from Porto. The fact you used this music stops me from sharing this lovely video unfortunately as I have friends who would love to see this.

Well done, as a "portuense", I enjoyed it. However, Vila Nova de Gaia, is not another district of the city, it isn't part of the city of Porto, it's rather a city, another one, in its own right. The people from Gaia, don't like to hear that at all, as you can imagine it.

Good presentation, but a poor choice of music, IMO. All that exuberance of those Andalucian-style sounds, with their Moorish overtones, clash with the cultural and historical background of Porto -- indeed, of the whole northern and central Portugal -- and contribute, albeit unintentionally, I guess, to relay that quite widespread and erroneous notion that Portugal is in Spain!
@jpinto2896

Yep , I think probably don´t clash but is out of context . But you need to be Portuguese or very well inform to know that about a music . A good video
@miguelcoelho3877

@@jpinto2896 Well, both. I am Portuguese, but I am also someone whose taste in music includes Early Music, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Contemporary, Jazz, Jazz-Fusion, Folk, Folk-Rock, Rock, Prog-Rock, World Music... an eclectic mix that allows for a more detailed and better-informed appreciation of what is, or it is not, out of place. In my opinion, the use of Andalucian-type music (or Moorish, for that matter) as the background of a video about Porto is as inadequate as using a Bavarian-style, Oompah music, in the background to a video about any English or French city. I'm sure the author of this video didn't do it on purpose, but I thought it was worth point it out...

Portugal's name doesn't come from Porto, Portugal comes from the word Portvcale, that was the old name of the condado Portucalense based on the birth city of Guimarães.

" [...] based on the birth city of Guimarães." Well, that is not entirely correct. Although the County of Portucale, which was established by Vimara Peres in the second half of the IX century AD, is irrefutably linked to Guimarães -- the name of the city of Guimarães comes, in fact, from "Vimara", hence its inhabitants being called "vimaranes" -- the name "Portugal" comes from the fusion of two words, "Portus" and "Cala" which, in turn, refer to that area around the Douro River between Porto and Gaia.
@jmlmo35
@jmlmo35 3 жыл бұрын
@@miguelcoelho3877 In fact, Guimarães comes from Vimara Peres, son of Pedro Theon, an Asturian noble. But, in fact "Vimara" comes from "Vigmar" wich is an arcaic germanic word composed by the words "Vigh+Marah" or "battle horse". This is related by the germanic Suebi Kingdom in the northern Portugal and Galícia with the capital in Braga. In those ancient times (V Century), there was even a place called "Portugale", where today is Porto. The name PortusCale, or "Portugale" is much older than the foudation of the Portucalense County itself. In fact, Guimarães was founded as a advanced military post in order to defend "Bracara" from the incursions of the vikings in the IX century. I advise you the reading of "The Indviduality of Portugal" by Dan Stanislaw.
