I'm a 58 year old America Echo and the Bunnymen fan who discovered the band during a 1985 semester at the University of Stirling in Scotland. I've followed each album since including the Reverberation album and Will's Glide solo material. "Love it all" to quote Mac. Please keep making great music. -Steve Magnante

Can we have a video where Will gets more gear out and talks us through it? I stopped breathing when he brought the vox out. Such a criminally underrated player, and his incredible use of guitars and gear is so underreported on.

Will's autobiography should be turned into a script/screenplay and then a film. I've read a lot of biographies and autobiographies by musicians over the years and Will's is right up there with the very best. It's entertaining, interesting, funny and really well written. He could have been a writer or a journalist in another life. Which just goes to show that teachers from back in the 60's and 70's knew naff all, because he wasn't regarded as being intelligent or gifted at school, didn't do particularly well in his exams, but he went on to carve out a massively successful career in a creative capacity.

I saw Echo & The Bunnymen perform in Montreal at the theatre St Denis I think it was around 1984 or 85. The opening band was The Church. I've seen many great musicians play but all things considered, this is the best music performance I have experienced.

Only just caught this better late than never , I remember Will putting a guitar on eBay as “Sergeant Fuzz” I think it was and I bid for it but obviously not enough to my eternal regret :( anyway my one for one favourites would be …Crocodiles: All That Jazz ( Love the bass and devastatingly terse finish) , Heaven Up Here: Over The Wall (Final guitar break is so uplifting ) , Porcupine: Ripeness ( again brilliant psychedelically urgent counterpointing guitar), Ocean Rain: Thorn of Crowns ( Mac’s breathy voice and Wills haunting guitar line ) , thank you for all the years I’ve had endless enjoyment from your music boys, sincerely , Mark E Forest of Dean

I can't really put it into words but they Bunneymen seem to really HAVE something. It's like they somehow hit your spiritual-psychic-groove funnybone in a way that no other band can.

We have mad love for Echo and the Bunnymen and Electrafixion in Seattle. Being a huge guitar fan Mr. Sergeant has always been a favorite putting an extra bounce in my step when hearing him play. I named the yearling black bear in the thumbnail picture after Will Seargent because he was/is a true treasure like his namesake. Thanks so much for this great interview.

I have always liked bears - not pretty young rockstars - but after nearly 40 years as a "mostly diehard" Bunnymen fan, I now understand what it's like to be attracted to a musical hero. HUBBA... I'm sure this comes as no great boon to him, but there it is. You all had your day in the sun but now it's my turn to lay in the grass and dream.

This is pure gold. It's a peek inside the creative tour de force displayed brilliantly on the iconic 4 first albums. Many a wonderful hour I've listened to them while striving in my own art to reach for evermore. Many thanks for providing this to fans.

A great interview with Will. Loved his Bunnyman book and hoping for a sequel! I was blessed (in some ways) to spend my student years in Liverpool in the early/mid 80s. Those four albums were the soundtrack to that era and the music still sounds as fresh now as it did then.

The cover for Crocodiles was shot at Stockers farm Rickmansworth in Hertfordshire. There is a copse a few hundred yards from the farm house that backs onto the canal, that’s where it was taken. I’d imagine the actual tree is either unrecognisable or been cut down in the intervening 43 years. It would be interesting to take a look around, but unfortunately it’s on private land, although I’m sure if you spoke to the owners nicely they would probably allow you access.

Great interview with a great guy. I met Will after an Echo show in NYC and he was Djing an afterparty. I was a bit starstruck and tongue-tied but he was very gracious. My favorite songs of the first four albums: Crocodiles: Going Up, Stars Are Stars, Crocodiles, Villiers Terrace, Pictures on my Wall, All That Jazz; Heaven Up Here: Show of Strength, Over The Wall, All My Colors, Turquoise Days; Porcupine (my favorite album): all of them (lol - but I'm always disappointed that you never play In Bluer Skies live); Ocean Rain: Silver, Killing Moon, Seven Seas, My Kingdom, Ocean Rain.

Will, the 1st time I met you out of the 4 or 5 times, ( all here in southern California) you invited me to sit at your table in Hollywood, it was before your show with Electrafiction I believe, and you were with a very pretty publicist I think, anyway, you were so cool to me and so down to earth, I'll never forget chatting with you there at the table with her, and then the second time I believe / and I get these two mixed up because maybe this was the first time, but I snuck in through the Hollywood Hills to the John Anson Ford theater as I recall and Rodney Bingenheimer was backstage with you guys, I suddenly appeared back there with you guys and just told you what a huge fan I was and to have a great show! You later invited me back to your dressing room for a beer and some "crisps", where again you are nothing but polite and cool. Mac was great too, and I did drink a couple of your beers thank you mate! I remember seeing you guys off to your hotel and there were some very beautiful Japanese fans outside the gig waiting for you guys, that was really cool! The third time was another backstage thing where I snuck in again because the show was sold out at the House of blues in Anaheim California. I'm not sure if it was this time or the others but hung with you guys again and we discussed the 13th floor elevators, and I believe the band Love. Probably from one of the times before I asked you if you liked the band RIDE, which I was a huge fan of back then, and I believe you told me that you hadn't heard of them yet. I know they are big fans of the Bunnymen. And then the fourth time was in Santa Ana California, after the show and you guys were in back of the venue and I called out to you from beyond the fencing, and you guys were courteous enough to come out and talk to me and some other fans that were waiting around. Once again you were super cool and talk to all of us for like an hour after the show. A couple of the times I got my picture with you and Mac, and some autographs, a couple times. It's not often that one gets to meet their heroes. Each time was a real treat! Thank you! Paul

The quoted reviews of Heaven Up Here are bang on - a great, great record. Favourite track? Personally, I think it's an immaculate album from the first note to the last and I don't think I could pick a favourite track if I wanted to, which I don't, because to do so would detract from the overall greatness of the album. Thank you very much Mr William etc Sergeant.
