@@bobrew461 Yes, and there were plenty of social problems back then also, always makes me laugh when others think it was so much better 'back in the day'. But there was an innocence about most British sitcoms back then, the completely unrealistic innocence on display, that's what was funny about them, however the likes of Ben Elton was just around the corner, to drag us into the comedy of the late 20th century 😂👍

Oh my gosh ,you have no idea how much happiness this series you've uploaded has brought me,I've been so down losing my beautiful sister and my mum before that but watching these has taken me back to happier times of my life. You cannot beat the comedies from the 70s and 80s. Everything is so politically correct now, comedy written like these are quite often based on real life characters that's why we can laugh at them, a huge thank you 🙏🤣😂🤣

What's so funny about this is you DID get couples like this back then. My great Aunt and Uncle hated one another, he was just like George, ignorant, scruffy, hated company and showed no interest in her, she was the opposite. When we used to visit he would say "oh hello" then go straight to the pub! The best was when they 'celebrated' their 30th wedding anniversary and he booked a fishing trip so he wouldn't be there! She tried to attack him with a rolling pin😂 They mellowed as they got older and actually died within weeks of each other in a nursing home.

At 46.10. ''And when he starts banging at the back door at 2 o'clock in the morning'', as he holds her close in his arms! Haha. And her reply confirms it was meant for me. And then he suggests an early night... With these older sit coms its really hard to tell if these little sayings are meant in that sexual comedic way as around that time it was a bit of a thing. You can also always tell that the audience are not sure either! Great series from a great bunch of comedic actors. As most will say, when telly was really great and everyone laughed at each other and enjoyed the humour.

People who think Yootha Joyce was a beauty back then, need to search for photos of Brian Murphy's REAL wife at that time: LINDA REGAN is her name.

Except that when George & Mildred was on the air, Brian Murphy was not married to Linda Regan. They married in 1995.

It's interesting to see that looks had absolutely nothing to do with becoming a tv actor then. People with looks like that would never get tv jobs in other nations.
