9ne of our players has a child, she had to make diner for him around the time the game started and our dm would get really passive aggressive with her if she was even a minute late. I told him off, he told the whole group that the were simps for her and told us we couldn't plan a trip to McDonald's. Thus, the simpsquad was born. We don't play with him anymore.

I remember when a DM threatened to kick me from a game when I helped the group co-ordinate in combat. (We were both going to flank an enemy) He also reacted very poorly when I was like "God is fast, but the Ettin is faster" when we were fighting an Ettin. No stat call outs, nothing, just a little joke.

The anti-magic collar is a great example of something that could be character building, if the DM had given them a direct line of action to removing it, to guide the players towards a goal. The Bard goes through a session trying to be useful without spells while the rest of the party sees how much of a detriment the loss of their spells is. You don't need a hard fight or encounter, just something to keep them on their toes. Then they get the thing to remove the collar, you carry on the campaign. But, if they can't give adequate location descriptions, I wouldn't be surprised if 'relating information to the party' was a foreign concept to the DM.
@felinemage8285
@felinemage8285 Жыл бұрын
Thats a fine line to walk though. You basically take away a players ability to play for a bit, maybe a session or two. Plus it should be talked to with the player if they are still having fun or enjoying this charatcer arc. If they aint gotta cut it short.

@ArcCaravan
@ArcCaravan Жыл бұрын
Closest to a devil's advocate I could offer is the bruise player gave them more of a heads up. Doesn't excuse them getting mad over a real emergency and more likely them wanting an excuse to treat OP like crap for the Orc character.

@@ArcCaravanI guess that could be since it's a bruise. Bruises hurt but they usually don't incapacitate. But with how OP described the gall bladder stone incident and it being serious enough to keep them inpatient for 5 days, I'd say they were either in too much pain or too much anaesthetics to be thinking of alerting their Dnd group. Still awful behaviour, wonder what they would have done if someone got hurt badly enough to be unconscious and didn't have the 'courtesy' to tell them beforehand.

OP here - it's not that PF1e Bards are bad, it's that A) It was my first time playing the class (And Pathfinder!), so I hadn't really figured it out yet and B) The campaign itself was...not so great. So more of a Pavlovian response thing than a slight to the class.

All the fetish stuff aside, it's also weird that the "realism" GM claimed to want a morally grey campaign, but when some of the PCs weren't brutal enough he said it was "too grey". Like, if you want to play an evil campaign just say that from the beginning, don't hide it behind "grey". It probably would've been more fun for everyone if they knew that expectation going in.

What do you mean by "mommy"? NGL, the first time I watched this episode, I thought "oh, it's not about literal mom, he's just doing the usual internet horni bit where any older-looking woman with *ahem* 'maternal proportions' is called 'Mommy', in the 'Mommy? sorry, mommy? sorrry-' sort of way", but rewatching it again... no, I guess it was literally Oedipus Complex, like wut... Also, the second story with the stone collar seems a bit too... specific, at first. I checked Dungeon of the Mad Mage, at a quick look there's no mention of a stone collar that works that way, so I suspect it was the Collar of Silence item from Campaign 2 of Critical Role, first used against Caleb in the "Happy Fun Ball". The difference is the golem that uses that is clearly telegraphed as antimagic (it has antimagic cone spotlight eyes) and deploys it at Melee range, and the collar was able to be lockpicked with thieves tools. Not giving the player anything to deal with the collar just seems like a dickish move.
