Great video , I can't believe it was that easy. I have a similar problem lifting as I'm often just a hair shy of what I need to load metal coils(1000lbs+) onto a rack. A friend of mine is a farmer and he said they do this mod often to for specific tasks with their tractors. Definetly need that extra weight on the rear of the tractor. Mine is a Grand L and even with loaded tires you can float the rear end at stock max lift capacity without any assweight, and you can easily tip it on a tight turn when front wheels are at maximum camber..I might do the mod with just one of the smallest shims. A hundred pounds would make all thre difference for me.

Thanks for your comment Mr. Allen! These machines are VERY handy and I find myself using them for more and more around here. Like you - I needed just a little more lift to get a specific job done. I have no regrets about bumping the pressure up. In fact, since making this video I've had several people contact me stating that over time, the relief valve gets weak - reducing you lift capacity. keeping a few shims and a pressure gauge around would probably be a good part of regular maintenance. Thanks for the comment and taking the time to watch my video. Please subscribe if you haven't already.......I'd be honored if you did!

What's SO important to note here is that there are several types of pumps and dcv systems out there. This is likely a pretty basic open center dcv on a basic fixed displacement pump. You can get in a lot of trouble once it gets a single step more sophisticated than that.

There's really no difference. I've put on over 180hrs on the mod and the tractor doesn't perform or sound any different - I had a specific purpose in mind - I needed to lift a +1200lb load to lift onto a flatbed truck and the stock FEL wouldn't do it. After the mod - I was able to lift it with the help of a box blade mounted to the rear of the tractor as a counterbalance. Of course, I can't recommend you to take this project on yourself as it will void your warranty and the liability is too high - as with increased lifting capacity comes increased possibilities for damage, injury or death. Thanks for watching and for the comment!!

This is very good info to have. I am not sure if I will try it as I just blew a hydraulic line. As the tractor gets some age, the hydraulic lines are susceptible to fail or a weak link. Logic tells me higher pressures will just make that happen sooner. But I still am happy to have this knowledge so thanks for sharing. 👍

Just curious on your results. I've a L2501 also, and am positive these tractors are awesome workhorses, but also cut way down on their abilities. I believe it's the same exact engine as the L3301, yet less hp to come in under the clean air standard. So would I be right in assuming that it could easily be brought up to the 3301's specs, without any concerns. And then following that guideline, we'd be able to assume the frame being the same as a L3901, we'd be able to assume the tractor could handle up to the 3901's lifting abilities? Obviously I used ASSUME intentionally. I don't know all the ratings or differences between the models for their hydraulic pumps and if other components are different sized. I've always heard about the shims, and what a great video showing it. Thank you soooooooo much. I did a huge project last year digging out clay to put in a new driveway, and sometimes she stained going into the new pile of 3/4 limestone to lift a full bucket. That's a lot of weight in the 66", but low and slow worked fine. Thanks for the video
@BotaTrac
@BotaTrac 3 жыл бұрын
I don't know the answer to that. Off the bat - I know that the 2017 L2501 comes with a 1.6L engine and the L3301 & L3901 come with a 1.8L engine but all of that is just off the top of my head. Thanks for watching and for the comment!!

Thank you so much for posting this video. I have a l3901 with the same loader and it definitely could use a little more. Doesn’t even work the tractor at all. Does it void the warranty for the entire tractor or just the hydraulic system?

I am under the impression that any modifications to your tractor can/will void your warranty. Great video I should be getting my l2501 in a couple weeks I hope. Not to worried about lifting more so much but a stronger loader even at the bottom range would be nice. But I was curious with the added psi did you notice any performance gains in the speed of operation. Im getting a back hoe and I think the added pressure would be maybe a benefit there
@BotaTrac
@BotaTrac 3 жыл бұрын
You're going to be super happy with that tractor. It's heavy. Got lots of power and in low range she's a bull! As far as increased performance - I don't think so... I didn't bump the Hydraulic PSI up that much - just enough to be able to lift a dump bed onto my Ford F250. Sometimes I feel like maybe it's a little snappier and other times I don't know if I think it really isn't "snappier" because maybe I'm just use to it....(Sorry, I know I didn't REALLY answer your question). I can tell you this about performance.....The max idle screw is set and then wired with a security wire so that it can't be adjusted up without breaking off the security wire - which voids your engine warranty. There are a lot of guys who claim that the engine is capable of a lot more power and torque - but is "limited" for emission reasons. I don't know if I buy into that but, if you find out from the dealer's mechanic when you take delivery - I'd sure like to know. Thanks for watching and commenting! Again, you're really going to love that tractor. Please don't forget to like, share and subscribe! Talk again soon!

They wouldn't tell me what max pressure would be. They told me "yeah...it will handle that" but never gave me a hard number. Just remember that with added weight comes added wear and tear on your machinery. Bearings, seals and shafts are all performance matched to lifting capabilities so BE VERY CAREFUL!! Also, the ability to lift heaver loads also makes your tractor less stable the higher the bucket goes..... Thanks for watching. Not too sure this is a good idea. I doubt it will have all that much difference for the possibility of damage for doing it. It may increase lifting capacity without any damage, but I am pretty sure the risk isn't worth it unless one knew more about it being safe knowing more about the system. Hope you have a follow up after using it with a load that you can lift with the extra pressure you couldn't otherwise. But even lifting in the range it is suppose to with raising the pressure could cause premature problems.
