The Mini-Skid can be made as versatile as you want it to be with the more implements you purchase for it. Like the big skid loader, the more implements you get, the more useful the machine becomes over time. You got all those toys...err tools, and I'm just as satisfied that I have my sub-compact tractor....partly your fault and John's fault from A Ritter Bit Will Do LOL....that little BX2680 has been such a great help around my small property especially now that I'm all on my own....my grandfather used to help with a lot of the chores outside but the last couple years he wasn't in too good of health, then we lost him this past January, which has left a massive hole in my life. Losing my mom about 6 years ago was really hard too, you don't realize how much you love them until they're gone....the tractor helps tremendously....course I always find something to use it for like that mini-skid loader, you find uses for it plus more implements/attachments over time to make it do what you need done. I've been thinking about getting one of those DR Power walk behind brush cutters, they have a couple models that you can swap out the attachments on them for a finish mower, snow blower, and a few other things....would be quite useful on my small property....that Vermeer mini-skid would really be fun, but I can't afford something like that right now, if I could afford what I'd really like to do, it would be fine, but I can't afford to buy all the equipment to do the rental yard like I'd love to do.

I’m still liking the hydraulic lift on the trailer. That’s a back saver and time saver rolled into one. We run the same type cutter on the skid and it’s a beast for sure. Way more handy than the tractor rotary cutter as you don’t have to back into the trees, which will wear ya out quick. With the miniskid you can get places the skid can go for sure due to cab height. Simple things like using a grapple to hold log in air while you cut it up is something impossible with the Skidsteer as you can’t get out of the cab with arm raised…we have the Cat with swing out door.

Hi, not sure, if you can find these other places, but in Las Vegas there is a heavy equipment playground called "Did This" and you pay so much and you can use excavators and front end loaders and skid loaders. They have all different types. My son used to work there, it's a great place for people that have never operated heavy equipment an opportunity to dig and play.

Great accoutrements to your mini skid steer! Here in middle Tennessee, every tree in ours & our neighbors yards have dead ends. When the wind kicks up they fall down, giving the cicada larvae a chance to burrow in the ground. We’ll see them in about 13-17 years again! 🙏🏼👍🏼👏🏼🇺🇸

The brush hog sounds like a jet engine. That must represent the power it expends. The Vermeer is definitely a multi purpose machine. For example, the attachments that go with it. Ever since I started watching your channel in 2021, I’ve been introduced to all the different machines that make work more efficient. That’s one of the many reasons I stay as a subscriber.

Mike , you are right about the bush cutter cutting something and it hitting a tree 🌳 and coming back to hit you. I ran tractor with a 25 foot arm with a 60 inch deck when I worked at VDOT. One day I was cutting behind the ditch on a dirt road and I hit some rocks and one hit a tree and came back and shattered my windshield.

Mike, I bought a brush cutter similar for my mini excavator and I installed a high-impact glass because of the danger of the kickback of debris. Listening to your mower it has a really fast motor similar to the one we bought from Rut manufacturing. Be careful but enjoy, it will definitely get the work done.

What a nice brush hog. Keep the weeds back away from your property. What little you cut there sold me on it. Sorry about the majestic oak tree there. Great shade provider. Hope it stays strong a few more years. The Verneer has proved to be a great asset. You never said it, but i bet it's fun operating it. Then you get to sit back and admire the neat trimmed property lines. Those blades under it do look like it could eat 3 inch wood. Powerful!! Can't wait to see the cut trails down at the cabin. I also can't wait to see the other two attachments. Can't wait to see the concrete pour. Can't wait to see the gutters and overhang on the saw mill shed. There's always stuff i can't wait to see. All these trees are healthy, just one of those strange years.

Looking forward to seeing you run the brush cutter at the cabin and seeing your other new attachments. The Oak that’s growing one sided toward the house is exactly what I’m facing now. On 3 sides of my house I have trees that have grown so much in the 30+ years since we built the house, that they are now presenting potential problems of damage from limbs coming down on the house.in wind storms. So, I’m gonna have to pay to have some of them trimmed back this fall/winter and some removed completely.

There is a guy around me that used to advertise as being a tree doctor. I don’t know if he is still in business. He would have a bunch of screw in delivery systems that would suck up fertilizer and pesticides into the tree through the sapwood. He saved a lot of older trees in AR, MO, TN and MS. Just a thought.

I agree with the comment that the branches coming down may be related, at least in part, to the cicadas. We had two broods emerge in Middle TN this year and my 16 yr. old maple in the back yard is dropping more branch ends than ever. As you stated, the cicadas lay their eggs in the small branches in existing trees as their life cycle begins. I have heard that young trees ( and assuming new growth) were at the highest risk of damage.

Mike, Look at the bottom side of the oak leaf, If you see little green bugs. You have Aphids dripping sap. Weather could be the reason for the stress on the tree. Last year it was rainy and wet. This year it has been very hot, dry and windy. This type of stress will make trees produce a lot of fruit. (The tree thinks it might die) This can make the branches to heavy and dried out, So they snap off easy. But, Yes. It looks to me like the oak tree is very stressed out. If you like that tree. I would give it some water. Not to much, do not soak it to death. 😁

I was told that the Cicadas laid their eggs in the end of the branches, thus killing the ends of the limbs. When the branches fall off, the eggs end up in the grounds. There are lots of trees in my area of western Kentucky that this is happening here too. Keep up the good work.

Mike, I know where there is a 100 year supply of firewood. Two years ago there was a heavy infestation of gypsy moths ( I refuse to use the spongy moth-politically correct name) in our area. From above Lock Haven all the way East to Muncy, the entire North side of the Bald Eagle Mountain is showing about 40 to 50 percent dead trees. It is steep, so it probably will go to waste. If you drive down Interstate I-180 you will see it. The Mini Skid Vermeer looks like a Swiss Army knife of useful equipment.

It appears that this year’s growth has died because the leaves are dead and brown, but just in the new growth. I don’t know if it’s a disease or drought that is causing it. I don’t think it’s drought because I have been in places that are not dry but still have the same problem.

Do yourself a favor and add a bolt on cutting edge to the smooth bucket. Also, I think once you use the skidsteer mounted rotary cutter, you'll never want to use a tractor mounted one again. The skidsteer keeps the work out in front of you so you're not constantly twisting around to look behind you. It is way more maneuverable and with a lower center of gravity, CONSIDERABLY more stable on slopes. Honestly (Melissa this is for you 😊) with your current equipment arsenal, I'm kinda confused why you're still talking about getting a tractor. ANYTHING you do with the exception of bailing hay, which you don't do, can be done as well if not better with a skidsteer than a tractor. JMO.

The oak tree has lichen growing on it, so it already has issues. The new road damaged the root system. Those roots go all the way out as far as the leaves. Compacting the soil will definitely cause die back and stress. Hopefully it can adapt for next season. The sticky stuff is from aphids, cicadas, and other insects that feed on the tree. They produce "honeydew" that attracts bees, wasps, ants, etc. that feed on it. In return the ants will protect the aphids from predatory insects, spiders, wasps, ladybugs, etc...

Cicadas did that. My backyard was full of them after a good wind. The neighbor looked it up because their yard is full of them also and they didn't know why. Now we know.

Likely you are stressing the tree with all the pressure on the roots. It is quite close to the house and quite large. Probably not the worst idea for it to come down. Love the equipment.

You could probably start at the top of busy brush and just work it down. Cool machine
