This is so true. Film Grain comes from the film era so just throwing film on a digitally shot video doesn't take it all the way. Nice!

It’s a lot more accurate if you’re trying to replicate specific film looks and to have more control over the grain in your footage. If you’re looking for just a simple Film grain effect the. This level of control is probably not for you. In that case, I’d recommend using the free built in Film grain effect. 😄👍🏼

Great video Brad! Silly question, to fully benefit from FilmConvert amazing film color grading in the US, should raw video be shot at 24fps, or stick with 30fps (29.97)?

I would say it depends on where your footage is going to end up. If it’s going to be broadcast on TV then 29.97fps, if it’s for anything else (KZfaq, social media, your own personal viewing even in your tv) then I’d go with 24fps 😊 Hope that helps 🤞🏼

Hi I love your channel and I have a question about installing filmconvert in FCPX. I can’t seem to find much help and here’s where I’m stuck… I’ve bought and downloaded filmconvert but I’m having trouble installing, I went through the install process up to te point where i see filmconvert in the effects menu and can drag and drop it onto my clip. It shows up in the inspector, but I’m unable to complete the next step, according to the install guide that was emailed to me. Where it says ‘under effects controls, find the filmconvert nitrate settings. Next to ‘purchase and License’… I’m unable to find Effects Controls. I’m not sure where it is on my FCPX interface. Any help would be greatly appreciated because I bought the plug-in and would love to actually be able to use it 😂 Thank you for your help!

Hey Colleen! Yeah, using the plugin you bought would be ideal 😆 Let’s see if we can get you up and running. When you add the effect to the clip, you said you can see the effect on the inspector window. If you give over the effect in the inspector and move your cursor to the right, do you see text pop up that says “show”? If so, you should be able to click on that to expand the window to see the purchase and license option 😄

Thanks for your video but I am a little confused. Is the Nitrate plugin a grain emulation plugin or is it a complete color grading platform which enables you to add film grade? Can it replace Color Finale for example?

It’s ultimately a film emulation plugin with built in color grading tools. However, it doesn’t have advanced color grading features like mask tracking, HSL, etc. so I wouldn’t say it would replace Color Finale. Two different plugins for two different purposes. If your grading needs aren’t super complex you could easily grade and do everything you need to using Nitrate but if you need to take serious control of your grade and over specific parts of your shot, then Color Finale is better for grading. Hi! could you please help me how to delete it? I stucked like a virus!!! I can't find anywhere. I got the info from thair website to find the folder called OFX but it doesn't there....... It so annoying... Help me pls :)

They should have an uninstalled for it. I would reach out to their support team to get a real person to give you uninstallation instructions 👍🏼

@@Brad_West They told me to delete 3 different folder and file as in the description on the website, but there is no files like that.... :D so i just got 1,5 gb..... :D :D :D wtf

@@RickysFishingthat’s so weird. This must be another location that the files were copied to when installing. I think a real support person should be able to help.

Hi, can we correct exposure before using this plugin? Or can we do further tweaks within final cut after using this plugin?

Absolutely! You can make exposure adjustments or any additional tweaks before or after applying Nitrate. 😊👍🏼

Hey, today I updated the file cut program and when I opened the program I couldn't find the titles , the translation and the effect, I downloaded all of them from the internet, and some of the transmissions are there, but the red screen is offline. I tried to change the version titles, but it was not fixed, what do you think?

You might need to add .localized to the title and transition folders for FCP to recognize those folders. There is a whole thread about it and how to do it here: fcp.co/forum/4-final-cut-pro-x-fcpx/28202-where-are-my-motion-templat Let me know if that helps.
