Would love to get the Mantlo run in Omnibus format (and to see Marvel Fanfare # 20 & 21 included; all reprints of that era skip this Thing / Hulk fight by Starlin.) I want the Jones era in Omnibus, not so much for the content itself, but to have the format consistent with the two omnis “bookending” that era.

I would also love a Mantlo omnibus. It'll probably take two volumes. Does Marvel still have ROM rights to republish #296 in a separate Hulk volume?

@@adamfrey4920 One can only hope that Marvel renegotiated the rights to reprint Rom crossover appearances for their future collections (having already omitted one in the first Power Man & Iron Fist epic), but we don’t have a definitive response on that subject

Oh that late 90s Marvel coloring in the Casey/Pulido/McGuiness portion is so brutal to look at. That contact with the coloring studio from Ireland continues to haunt. Greg Wright would be the main colorist for Ron Garney’s portion of the book and it’s such an improvement. Night and day, really.

When I saw this included Rampaging Hulk, I thought those would be from the Rampaging Hulk black and white magazine from '77-'78. I had stopped reading comics in the 90's and was not aware of the Rampaging Hulk comic. I would like to see the Rampaging Hulk magazine in an omnibus though.

Omar covers what will be the eternal struggle: putting this after Peter David Vol 4 or Vol 5 (or Maestro if you consider that PAD Vol. 6). I like to tell myself that Huk ended with Peter David's last issue in 1998 and everything after is an alternate universe.

Hey, Greg Pak and Al Ewing hold up. But I agree, that’s too sparse for 25 years worth of stories. I think the editorial interference of the Onslaught story disrupted David’s rhythm; David Omnibus 4 was the most inconsistent of the batch. You could see around # 460 that David was getting his groove back before Marvel stripped the book from him.

@@JamesBlight-jh7rgI was very happy with PAD until the end of the Pantheon era, and then it got pretty weird and the PAD style jokes stopped landing. Two things threw it: 1) a couple of bad and or inconsistent art teams, and 2) I believe PAD went through a divorce around then. Onslaught is honestly where I thought it picked up again, helped by the Deodato and Kubert art. I like Jim Rugg's take in Grand Design: it's interesting up to the end of PAD's first run with Planet/WWH as an interesting endnote. I asked Rugg about this at Baltimore and his take was basically, yeah, Hulk stories were less impactful after 98. The love for the Bruce Jones era is odd because it made no dent in the Hulk mythos. Plus, it fell apart after the Abomination arc.

@@adamfrey4920 I agree that # 425 - 446 were also awkward. I was never a fan of the Pantheon at all; because the Merged Hulk and Pantheon stories were contemporaneous, we never got to see Merged Hulk stories breathe on their own.

My critique about # 444 - 459 (Onslaught era) was specific - not bad, but inconsistent. It’s like David was trying to establish new arcs every three to four issues then throwing them in the trash.

@@JamesBlight-jh7rg The Pantheon era was...a thing. Didn't hate them, didn't love them, but they were uniquely PAD. I'll say that PAD's writing style is so distinct that certain characters just can't be written well by anyone else. I think it's rare that I've seen someone write Professor Hulk or Spider-Man 2099 "correctly" simply because PAD wasn't writing them. Rick Jones is another tough one. Kurt Busiek wrote him okay. Nick Spencer wrote him way different in Captain America.

Peter David's run on Hulk, John Byrne's run, Bruce Jones's run, and Jeph Loeb's run are all great storylines to read on the Incredible Hulk. Not to mention this Omnibus on John Byrne's run on the Hulk looks absolutely.....Incredible!!!!

@@snoopy4749Dear God, no. I don’t know what went through Loeb’s head when we decided, “Hey, let’s turn pretty much every supporting cast member into a Hulk-derivative” but it was lame as hell. Red Hulk? A-Bomb? Red She-Hulk? Just tacky.

I hate it when there are gaps in stories between omnibuses. Marvel should release something that fills all the gaps. I don't like it when I'm reading and it's talking about something that happened in a previous issue that I have no idea about.😅

I'm sure I will grab this, though I was hoping Marvel would include Wolverine #144 and #145, as those issues bookend issue #8 of the relaunch... but I guess I'll have to wait for Wolverine Omnibus vol. 8 or whenever. 🤷‍♂

I'm waiting for the Epic Collection of this stuff. I'd definitely be up for a Bill Mantlo omnibus, though. Bruce Jones' run started strong, but was really bad by the end. That said, I'll get the Epics of that stuff, too!

Getting this. Every Hulk omni is a must have for me. Hoping we get Bruce Jones and Bill Mantlo soon. Also hoping we get further volumes of the silver age, the masterworks have fully collected that era now I think? Hoping volume 2 & the reprint of 1 sell enough to get those. Probably would be about 8 volumes to take us through to Peter David

I feel this way about x-men. Until we had a xtreme X-men omnibus and animated X-men omnibus. Those I didn’t get. But I did get the animated Batman omnibus. Cause you know the real stories of Harley Quinn.

@@MrGeorgFTW As a follow-up, there was an oversized hardcover / omnibus for Incredible Hulk # 601 - 611 plus assorted “World War Hulks” mini-series. Yes, it too is out of print, but it IS out there. Incredible Hulks # 612 - 635 were collected in trades only.

What's the strongest version of HULK ever? I've heard people say immortal hulk which I am yet to read and also incredible hulks heart of monster which I have read.

I miss when the Marvel Handbooks listed firm power rules. Officially, the Hulk could lift up to 100 tons. (In Secret Wars #4, I assume the Hulk wasn't *actually holding up a mountain,* but was keeping a tiny pocket of the mountain intact.) Later stories probably have given no realistic limit on the Hulk's strength.

I know this isn't the best Hulk stories but as a Hulk completionist have to get it. What I would like next is Bill Mantlo's run as Omnies! And Bruce Jones' also!

I love most of what Byrne did over the decades but his late '90s Hulk run, for whatever reason, turned me off. I tried the first issue and it was just okay to me. But everybody's got different opinions and I'm not claiming I know everything, just my opinion. However, I'm very glad for fans of this run getting an Omnibus treatment. Omniboos rock!
