My read-through of Peter David's Hulk run continues with a review of the third volume in the Omnibus series! This is my review of the Incredible Hulk Omnibus by Peter David volume 3. I, for one, would like to see your Top Ten Hulk artists list. I loved Peter David's run. Most of all, I remember enjoying the original issues dealing with Rick and Marlo's wedding. I'm a sucker for that kind of thing, especially when humor is injected into the storytelling. The silliness of Cap wearing a tuxedo yet still bothering to use his mask is simply delicious! 🙂 Plus, as a huge Sandman fan, I got a big kick out of Death's cameo at Rick and Marlo's wedding.

Yes that Cap thing was super silly! I will put together that top ten as soon as I finish the last PAD Hulk Omnis.

The David/Keown run was my favorite time for Hulk and it was what I grew up on. I dropped out of comics around the time that these issues in Vol 3 were coming out so I've been wondering whether or not to pick it up. Thanks for the overview! Really helped me make the decision to do so.

Great review. Love these in depth omnibus reviews. Own all the PAD Hulk books and have read 1-4. Look forward to hearing your thoughts on 4 and 5. You’ve actually motivated me to dive back in and finish up!

I was a huge fan of Peter David's run & I left after he did. That was 12 years' worth of books. Jeff Purves was my least favorite artist of his run. I hear he went on to work in animation. I would have loved to have seen Simon Bisley work on the book.

@@LarrysLibrary Avatar published Crossed. It's about an infection that turns people into frenzied cannibals, murderers, and rapists. Children as well. The infected retain speech and some cognizance, distinguishing them from zombies. Garth Ennis created the series, writing the first story arc. Then a new writer would write a new one. "Abandon all Hope" in this world. Rarely did anyone survive either being infected or being a meal. Crossed had some interesting covers, some of them very disturbing. Alan Moore towards the end of the series wrote for it as well.

I don’t like the picture chosen for the hardbound cover. Seeing Hulk using the phone was pretty funny. This guy’s art is so good. Yes - top ten Hulk artists. You should also do your Daredevil top ten that we were discussing. The 90s art here is hilarious.

What bothers me about the trigger warnings is that there are so many people that find every little thing offensive. You literally have articles saying milk, math and being on time to work is racist . So I say why waste your time with trigger warnings, because people will complain it isn’t enough then that leads to censorship. At the end of the day you can’t please everyone.

It's certainly a complex issue but I think it's worth trying if it can help someone with genuine trauma.

@@LarrysLibrary well what I have a problem with is censorship and how things with good intentions escalate into something ridiculous. Maybe a few people on twitter claim daredevil is ableist and triggers them so we need a trigger warning on all DD books. Then someone people say well there’s a woman getting hit that triggers women who’s been victim of violence which ends up just getting to the point where everything just needs to have a big trigger warning on it. Then there’s the issue of censorship where they take out things that might trigger someone in books. They took out stories from the predator omnibus because it had Nazis in it. What’s next banning Captain America books since all he does is fight Nazis? I see that people’s heart is in the right place with this but we live in a world of 7 billion people and you have random things that offend maybe one to a handful of people. You can’t have the mindset of doing something because it might offend one person because we will end up with nothing. So I think the best thing to do is just have people make their books the way they want them, maybe do a rating system like with movies. So people should know ahead of time a mature comic will probably have violence in it and to not watch it if it triggers them. I would also say if something as little as a scene in a comic triggers you that bad then you need to get help.
