My read-through of Peter David's Hulk run continues with a review of volume four in the Omnibus series! This is my review of the Incredible Hulk Omnibus by Peter David volume 4. I put #-1 and #0 issues in the order they were released. For instance, Hulk #-1 was released between issues #454 and #455. So, I place #-1 between those issues and mark the top of the bag with a sharpie so it sticks out as an abnormality.

I'm reading my way towards Peter David's run. I just finished Bill Mantlo's run (in Epic format... Ew! paperback!) and I will follow up with John Byrne's run in May. I will read an Omni a month of Peter David's after that, so I have Hulk for the rest of the year 😁.

I can see why there’s no page numbers because of the full bleed pages. The option would be to make the book bigger and add a border at the bottom but I do t think they would do that. You wouldn’t want them to put a page number on the art so we are stuck with no page numbers .

Yep....I think that's the only answer. And I think you are right it would look bad to have numbers over the art when it's full bleed.

Great video, Larry. I also hate when they suddenly put the art sideways. It always felt like a gimmick to me and it never brought any substance to the material. At least the times I’ve encountered it.

As much as I love Peter David's writing, I did hate that the main reason he gave for messing with Bruce and Betty's relationship was that he was going through divorce. 🤔

It's actually Luke McDonnel inked by Steve Mitchell.....but it looks a lot like Layton! Surely a big influence on those artists. It's from Iron Man #174's cover

Which omnibus out of vol.1-4 would you say is the best? I’m not including vol.5 since it comes way after his original run.

That's a REALLY tough question. None of them are perfect but maybe volume two is a little better than three because of the great Gary Frank art? Maybe.

@@LarrysLibrary another question is, do you need to have read any other series or events that tie into any of these hulk Omnis? I know some X-men events from the 80s tie in with xfactor which I’ve read but I see in vol.4 there’s some onslaught tie ins which I haven’t read

@@fishin4bass2002 It certainly wouldn't HURT....like the Onslaught and Age of Apocalypse and maybe one more. But I haven't read all of those other pieces either and I was OK. So as long as you are somewhat aware of what those events were about you should be OK. But yes there are some details you will be missing.

@@LarrysLibrary I want to read the entire PAD hulk run at once. My problem is I’ve not read any X titles past Age of apocalypse and haven’t really read anything else post 1980 so I don’t know how I should go about it.
