They r required to give u ear plugs or headphones for the scan or even both. If ur not able to listen to music the least amount of hearing protection required is earplugs.

When you're actually in the machine , it can be quite overwhelming. * Never take up an offer of a " heated blanket " with the scans. * With the loud sounds in the tunnel, you want to make sure that headset is secure over your ears. I found myself squeezed in there, and eventually became claustrophobic after what became like an eternity with those [ interigation-like ] sounds combined. I dont know how many minutes I lasted, but I had the beginning of a panic attack. [ I was shocked the experience had such an effect on me. ] I had to cut the exam short. I was defeated.
@Morefernandez96__4 ай бұрын
@asisoyou5323 The same thing happened to me, I don't know how long I lasted inside that machine and I had such a panic attack that I vomited inside the machine and I also started hyperventilating thinking I was going to go deaf.I tell you that I thought I was going to go deaf because they had the wonderful idea of doing it to me without headphones, It's just that I remember it and I get accelerated 😖. A hug and God bless you 🤗❤

I had to get a really long MRI (48 minutes plus another one with contrast for 17 minutes but with a break in between) and yeah, no blanket. That thing may be full of liquid helium but that noise pipe they stuff you into is well insulated from it. They had a fan blowing through mine by request but it had just enough steel in it where it was kept like 20' away.

I've witnessed 2 MRI scans, and while the first one was pretty quiet to my recollection (the room must have had some good soundproofing or something), the second one was really loud and all the different sounds it made were really weird. I kinda liked it, and now I'm looking up MRI scan sound videos on KZfaq lol.

How long do u have to wait between sequences with a patient? Do u tell them how long each one is or just do one after the other?
@MRIPETCTSupportEngineer3 жыл бұрын
The first couple of sequences take a little bit longer to setup, maybe up to a minute in between. After that the scan protocols can be run back to back if patient is comfortable. The technologist will normally check in with you in between scan sequences using a speaker system. They normally ask how you’re feeling in there and will give you a rough estimate of the length of the next scan sequence
@mikeschulte42713 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply. When I had my last mri was a few years ago and they did check In with me. The tech even told me which sequence was which. That really put me at ease. I hope u keep making these mri and ct vids they r amazing! Take care man and hope u and ur family r doing well

@MRIPETCTSupportEngineer2 жыл бұрын
Typically about 30 min. The post contrast studies tend to add about 10 minutes to your overall scan time. That can make for a long scan but a good opportunity for a nap :) I hope your scans go well!

Cardiac MRI? Well, if they didnt have heart problems before they got in it, they will upon leaving! The thought of being in that tube alone, having all of those sounds surrounding me and being unable to escape would stop my heart and even scare my pacemaker into not working again. My word, this is the stuff that nightmares are made of. The only worse thing would be if it took place under water! But I used to work with a guy who actually enjoyed these things.

What does 3-D MDE stand for? :-)
@MRIPETCTSupportEngineer2 жыл бұрын
Hi! I hope you’re having a great day. The 3D MDE stands for three dimensional myocardial delayed enhancement. It is a specialized cardiac MRI scan sequence that utilize the fast gradient echo pulse sequence to create a T1 optimized image that lets radiologists evaluate the muscular tissue in the heart. Thank you for watching! :) That was a great question. The operator and service manuals always use the acronym so I had to do a deep dive in the books
