Oc In Vietnam is a traditional and popular dish amongst the locals. It might be a little terrifying at first as snails (Oc) do not look the most appetizing but I'm here to show you guys that snails (Oc) cooked here in Vietnam is beyond amazing. So for your next trip to Vietnam be sure to stop by any restaurants that show a sign outside saying (Oc) and indulge in some amazing seafood favors.

Totally agree with you “ don’t knock it until you try it”…..I used to never try snails until a friend introduced me to it and after that first time, I went back and ordered it again and again each time I came back

Excellent, I've eaten plenty of snails in Vietnam and Europe. You tend not to not taste the snails themselves in Vietnam because of the wonderful things they're cooked in, but in Europe they only normally only use garlic and butter. Great stuff that's!

Tony you should try ốc len xào dừa. It’s one kind of nail that they cook with coconut milk, lemongrass, hot chili, salt and sugar. It’s really yummy.

The large shell looks like conch, also abundantly available in the Caribbeans. The little ones in the orange sauces are called ‘sò huyết’, literally translate as blood clams. The other flatter shells topped with the green onion olioly are fresh scallops. All are tasty in their own right. If you haven’t already, try the periwinkles sautéed in lemon grass & coconut cream sauce. They will be served with a pin 📍 or tiny fork like Frances was using. The trick is once you puncture the meaty end with the pin, you would twist the periwinkle in the same direction as their swirl, while gently pulling the pin or fork up and out as you’re twisting the periwinkle. Then you suck the rest of that yummy lemon grass flavored coconut cream from the periwinkle, just slurp it all up, and mopped up the remainder sauce in the plate with some crusty baguette, boom!

Around 30 years ago there were lots similar food stalls on the curb side in China and some people got hepatitis b after eating street food for one night. You get still try it but be very careful.

Ahah thanks man I think it’s because my editing style has been typically for adventure / backpacking travel as that’s the first niche this channel was ! So I didn’t really watch other peoples food videos before!! But as for Adventure vlogs I’ve kinda been heavily inspired by other creators in that space. So it kinda just translated over into my food videos !!

Hi, first time come across your channel and it's pretty good! By the way at 9:40ish whenever you guys are talking about peppercorns from japan, no those are not from japan. Those are Chinese Szechuan Peppercorns that they mixed in with the large Snails for you all. Which it suppose to be nice and spicy with a numbing sensation.

@@TonyOi Well if you guys ever travel further into China, Taiwan, etc. there are restaurants that specializes in Szechuan food. You will see alot of it in seafood and pork dishes.

It's not Szechuan Peppercorn. Just normal green peppercorn. The type of pepper you use at home but still green. Vietnamese people not really using Szechuan peppercorn in their dishes accept Chinese inspired or fusion dishes. As a Vietnamese myself, I've never tried or heard about Szechuan pepper in 22 years of my life until I get to Canada.

Besides, I have traveled around the world and seen the idea of people using spices has developed more broadly than you would imagine.

Mình không nghĩ đó là tiêu Nhật, ở Nhật hình như không trồng được tiêu. Ở Việt Nam có rất nhiều tỉnh thành trồng được tiêu, nhà mình xưa cũng trồng tiêu, mình rất thích ăn ốc nướng tiêu xanh, nên chắc chắn đó là tiêu VN, vì giờ tiêu VN rẻ, chứ nhập khẩu tiêu nhật mà bán vỉa hè thì không ổn lắm.
