ну, а как им еще делать, если нет соответствующих станков, чтобы изначально болванку сделать тех размеров, чтобы точить не надо было так много? в 20-30ых годах и у нас так делали.

Despite the jokey and sometimes sarcastic comments, we are watching something special here that can't be seen in our factories these days (although these techniques were the basis of our modern practice) Amazing teamwork from these guys, the coordination required to manipulate the forging using the chain hoist, giant tongs and bars is sweeter to watch than any ballet. The balance point of the chain lift is critical yet they get in the right place every time. The skills required to do this are non-existent in the west now, mechanical manipulators having replaced manual working of forgings decades ago.

Jack B. I will disagree with your comment about these skills being nonexistent in the west. There are a few shops that work like this. They use both tongs and manipulators. I personally know men who have the skills required to do forging like this.

I consider myself pretty mechanically inclined and have a good understanding of how a lot of things work It is because of that I am truly able to appreciate and understand just how much skill and ability it takes to make something like this and have it line up perfectly with the next part and repeat the process .. Engineering is truly amazing

Amazing? Here, we can appreciate the high levels of security. The worker wears the Super Sandals with Steel toe guard. Goggles. Gloves. Noise Protectors. Helmet and mask against industrial oven. The 3M-950 filters for breathing gases and incandescent dust. Pajamas, sorry, I meant to say: Fire retardant clothing... etc. Yup. Cuz all this, it is no longer possible to continue working like in the 19th century, right, Mr. Bacon Boy? (I'm using the SARCASM, Ok?).
