@@brandonpurple8938 for the $25-35 thousand you have to spend to properly bulletproof the motor and trans on a Ford 6.0 might as well save yourself the cost of the Ford truck take the money it would take to fix fords intentionally terrible engineering and buy a lbz duramax and you’ll have something reliable the way it is instead of costing a whole other truck to fix just two of the many problems. Lbz rides way better is way more reliable and is just a far superior truck to a 6.0, interiors way nicer, cheaper and easier to fix much simpler and more reliable engineering. Don’t get me wrong I love a Ford 6.0 but I won’t deny the whole truck is absolute garbage. A buddy of mine had a 1996 Dodge 2500, 12V Cummins, that he put 2,600,000 km (1,625,000 miles) on. He managed to put those miles all on the original engine and NV4500 trans. I remember that around 1,500,000 km he was very disappointed when some dowel pin in the engine came loose and damaged a timing gear sprocket. He was hoping to see 1,000,000 miles (1,600,000 km) without touching the engine at all but unfortunately that dowel caused moderate damage (new timing chain and sprockets). At 2,600,000 someone turned into him while he had a green light and wrote off the truck. In reality though the truck was rotted away and was well overdue for retirement. The drivetrain was fantastic and really made those trucks awesome towing machines. In his case he managed to do all of those miles on the original motor and original manual transmission. He did need a 2nd rear end and if I recall correctly the 2nd one was a Dana 70 that would normally go in a 3500 (his was a 2500, non-dually). He is a stickler for oil changes every 5000 miles (8000 km) or less but he doesn't believe in synthetic for the engine, and just uses a good quality brand name oil and filters. He does use synthetics in gearboxes and axles. He also regularly changes the air filter. Most of the miles were hauling heavy trailers and goosenecks (12,000+ lbs) but he is one of those guys who pretty much never floors the throttle (he baby's his trucks IMO). He is a retired long haul trucker and still loves hauling stuff all over North America. At 2.6 million km it was burning about a quart per 5000 miles and he always boasted how he never needed to add oil between oil changes (although in reality he topped it up or changed it early before major trips). Even though he got great durability from his Dodge, he replaced it with an HD2500 Chevy. The RAM was 2wd and the new Chevy is 4wd.

If it’s a auto put a trans temp gauge on that thing and change oil and filter anytime it hits 220 or every 20-30k miles and it’ll last longer. This comes from much experience with Chevy 1500s. Once that trans oil hits 220 it breaks down and doesn’t work well the better condition your trans oil is in the better the trans will be oil is everything with automatic trans.h

Liked it👍 At first I was thinking man thats a lot of transmissions and quite a few engines. But then I thought, well I guess it depends on how hard the trucks worked and it seemed to me from the interview that this fella loves his truck but works it hard. It seemed to have mods that were consistent with getting the most work out of the truck as efficiently or cost effectively as possible. I have 350,000 plus on my 2008 4.0 V6 Nissan Frontier and I use it for work every day but I dont pull heavy trailers with it on a daily basis and when I do pull a loaded 6X12 cargo trailer for work I can tell how much harder the truck is working. I know the Cummins diesels rep as a great engine but hard work destroys everything eventually. My Frontier has lived the same life as my previous 2001 Toyota Tundra 4.7 V8 4X4 (the million mile Tundra engine) and the Tundra only made it 270,000 before it had a serious cam shaft issue in the engine. Maintenance is very important but so is how hard your working your truck, its not just maintenance.

I got one with nearly a million on it with original engine and one transmission rebuild. Only “major” things done to the engine are one injection pump rebuild due to a gas station attendant putting gasoline in it instead of diesel and one head gasket job... otherwise 100% original engine

Awesome it really shows what a little maintenance, care and ingenuity will get you. The 5 speed I understand replacing lol we hauled a trans am on car trailer and my buddy driving got a little pissed and clutch kicked it at about 2500 and it sheared the main shaft in half lol. But before that we did the mod to the 5 speed where you weld that damn collar onto 5th gear I mind serves me right. And never had that again until it got sheared in half. But other than that. It had almost 500,000 miles on it and he had put a programmer on it, cold air intake with a hood vent. No stack just straight 4 or 5 inch, plus 150 hp injectors idk what else. But it still runs great today and it's a 97 or 98 so 24 valve. Buy was traded to a family member and still running today.

Not bad. I have a 2003 Ford Supercrew. 425000 miles. Original engine and transmission. Yet to be overhauled. Finally a new rear end. Changed the oil every 3000 Mobile 1. Transmission serviced every 25000 miles. Transfer case and front diff original. At this rate I will only go through 2.5 engines and the same with the transmission at his milage. I from Ontario Canada an have owned two these trucks.. an 01 3500 2 wd Cummins 24 valve six speed an a 96 12 valve Cummins 3500 4 wd automatic ... the 01 I bought brand new An 96 I bought used with only 100 k on it .. both used hauling .. 01 was used to haul 4 car trailer an rvs an 96 rvs .. I liked the 96 much better an had better luck with automatic then the six speed .. but didn’t stay into them more than 300ish k An went into my big rig hauling .. but a friend I use to haul with had a 99/2000 3500 Cummins 5 speed an put over a million miles on it an it was original engine very very well maintained an trans was rebuilt once .. he used it to haul rvs an boats an it is in maculate shape to this day .. very well maintained an has original body an paint .. always washed an waxed .. Mack’s a huge difference .. he always used same oil An did maintenance matcualously always on time .. I wouldn’t be afraid to buy that truck off him today .. he was a retired military man honest as the days is long an treated that truck like royalty an never drive it abusively but did drive it right along if you know what I sayin ! Cheers 🍻 to all them trucks with the million mile or more !!

I had 240k miles on my Ford Ranger.(distance to the moon) I had replaced only the front tie rod bushings plus regular oil changes and tires. Then a young lady was distracted by texting and smashed into the back when I was stopped for traffic. Totaled. I'm pretty sure I could have gotten 500k with no big issues. BTW, I got out and was laying down very stunned in the ditch on the side of the road. The young lady was still texting her friends 10 minutes after the wreck. I had to get up, find my phone in the wrecked heap, find the battery, boot it, and call 911.
