INCREDIBLE TRADITIONAL ALBANIAN FOOD & feeling like locals in ELBASAN, ALBANIA 🇦🇱

We kept calling Elbasan Albania the city of surprises!
Why? Well, we took the worst looking train to get there, so we were not expecting much of this city. Our logic was, if this ugly train comes here, how cool can this town actually be? But we were wrong!
Elbasan Albania is beautiful and a very historic city. Yes, there's really not much to do or see other than the castle area and Albania's oldest mosque, but we really enjoyed seeing how locals live, G got a much needed haircut, we made new friends and also tried the most delicious Albanian foods of our trip so far. So, I call Elbasan a BIG WIN!

This was the most off-the-beaten-path stop of our trip throughout Albania, and honestly we really enjoyed it! We tried delicious foods, G got a haircut and we met the friendliest people! Let us know what was your favorite part of the video! :) thanks for watching!

Grew up in Elbasan. That "simite me bugace" opened my appetite. Miss them. They don't make them like in the days I grew up but still good. WIth that lunch you had it seems you've got a good kick of what traditional Albanian food is about. Glad you enjoyed it. Perhaps, you didn't realize some of the food you tasted you've never tasted before. There's also another "tava" famous in Elbasan. Tave me kumbulla. "Tava with prunes." Best it's eaten in spring when prunes are still green. There's a lot more in that town. It's an old town. Romans called it Scampius. If you happened to be there on March 14 they call it "Dita e Veres" the day of summer. They make for that day the famous "ballokume and revani." They are made with eggs, butter, corn flour and sugar. They have a heavenly taste but only when they're made with super organic ingredients that you can only find in Albania. Great video of Elbasan. Cheers

OMG it was so good. Delicious bread soaked in fresh butter? What could ever go wrong with that right!? And yes, we actually really had a very nice time in Elbasan! We really loved your city!! Albanian food when prepared well, it's very unique and delicious! We particularly loved the vegetarian dishes... everything is always so fresh which is hard to find these days. And that ballokume and revani you mentioned sounds like reason enough to go back! Thanks for all the kind words and for sharing your pride for your home town ❤️ we love it!!

My friend...I just travelled to Elbasan recently from London and it happened to be the best trip of my life. Your people are so kind and welcoming...will definitely visit again. Was fortunate to go into the hills and mountains and was blown away!

Wonderful video, Albania is on my list, though I didn't know much about the little gems you are finding as far as cities other than Durres and Tirana, you have given me another great option. Good food is very high on my list, so, you have given me a very good reason to hope over to Elbasan if not for a long stay, at least for a few days of touring the food establishments.

We fell in love with Albania and its people! In our experience, Gjirokaster was the town with the best restaurants and yes, in Elbasan we had a great experience at that restaurants and also in the restaurants in the castle area. Tirana has nice restaurants too (Don't miss 'Era') and we went to Durres and we don't have anything great to say about it honestly. It was our least favorite place in Albania, so make sure to do your research before you visit ;) Take care and hope you get to visit Albania soon! ❤️

Bugace is my favorite we have it every breakfast the food is amazing there and boz is so good I miss it you should try bollokume it’s a huge cookie only elbasan makes them so tasty

We ate it all our lives bugace we don’t gain a pound because of the diet and organic food we grow in Albania that’s the difference to eating quality and healthy food

No, they did't. They don't ask for much when entering Albania. If anyone would ask for any of those things, it would be the airline you flight with, so make sure to check in with them too!

Hi. We didn't need visas for Albania (on US & Venezuelan passports), so we don't know much about this. Maybe check Albania's consulate page? Good luck!
