What’s the movie Indecent Proposal about?
David (Woody Harrelson) and Diana Murphy (Demi Moore) are a married couple and have loved each other since highschool. Diana is a top-notch real estate agent and David is a talented architect hoping to establish himself by designing their dream project: a beachfront house in Santa Monica in which the lovers have invested everything they have. However, when the recession hits, their finances take a nosedive. In a last desperate effort to save their land from being repossessed, they head to Las Vegas determined to win the money through gambling. Unfortunately, they eventually lose everything. That’s when John Gage (Robert Redford), a mysterious billionaire, makes them a bold offer: he’ll give them $1 million if he can spend a night with Diana.

The way he got his shit together, told her how he felt, and just moved on; in my opinion, made him the champion of this film. I would’ve loved it even more if he just completely moved on and wasn’t at the pier in the ending. But it solidifies the movie’s point, you can’t buy love

yep and what you didn't see is that it took Gage 5-10 minutes afterwards to make her forget about it--Gage had total control all the way (and probably past) the end.

@@dmedman50 No, after this scene Gage and she break up. I am referring to the car scene. She tells Gage that they need to talk. Gage understands that she wanted to break up so it makes it easier for her by saying a lie. She then leaves and goes to David.

Forgiveness is hardest thing you can do when you love someone so much you not only learn to forgive the person you care for, you have learn to forgive yourself. If that’s not love then I don’t know what that is.

It was very difficult for me to like her character in this film. She made choices she didn't have to make, and then acted as if he was equally responsible. The fact that she immediately went to Redford's character upon having marital issues just proves that she wanted him. Still a great film, but i just felt like i couldn't root for her. It seemed like Woody was more into her than she was into him.

I agree. David's suspicions about his wife being attracted to John Gage were well-founded. Diana was deceptive from the start because she never told her husband about John's offer to buy her a $5,000 dress. She said she couldn't be bought, then smiled at John when their eyes met on the casino floor. David had no idea his wife already had an encounter with him. A pivotal scene that was supposed to occur after they returned home was cut from the original script. Apparently, Diane made a new sexual move while they were making love that set David off so much he jumped out of bed and told her, "You never did that before." David's behavior and suspicions would have made more sense if they had kept that scene.

Not only that, they should have written this to be a permanent breakup, instead of the fairy tale ending that totally whitewashes her character and choices. I actually liked how Gage chose to let her go, because he knew she would never see him in the same way she saw David, but David was also in a position where he should have walked away because he could never forget what she did. I understand the whole "forgiveness" angle, but i would rather have a more realistic ending. True forgiveness is actually not a common theme when it comes to humans. In reality, most people are never able to move on from something like this.

Seen Indecent Proposal years ago & didn't pay a lot of attention to the story line. Paid a bit more attention this time & like Adrian Lyne's other film Unfaithful which I think is a better story line & also better acted, has a very unsatisfactory ending. In this case, no guy would stay with a wife who had described Redford as an "effing stallion" only later qualifying it to a good enjoyable performance when she realised how much damage she had done to her husband's ego. Why is it that women look shamefaced & sorry when admitting adultery when in reality they have had a great time, not giving a shit for their partner & in reality should look happy & very satisfied!

Have you seen the movie? The moral of the story is actually all about men bulldozing women's desires for their own gain & the repercussions that come from being a man's doormat. At least thats what tue director said.... I'll take his word for it lol. I'm guessing you haven't seen the movie. Her husband pressured her into sleeping with him for the money. Then got mad that it happened & she had good sex with him. She forgave her husband for pressuring her & then guilting her. It's about women persevering.

My husband and I have a buddy that was left by his wife and he still has the pint of view that marriage should be forever. The sad truth though is that not everybody respects that. But for most people that do get married it is not a business endeavor, it is a promise for forever with the love of your life. I'm sorry to whoever feels the way you do because I know those feelings aren't there for no reason❤
