I suspect that with the character of the young president, 2 things should be conveyed. First, the explanation that the President could lead the fighter pilots into battle as one of them. The young king leads his army into battle himself, the classic hero image that has its real model in Alexander the Great. The second aspect is probably the memory of Jack Kennedy, who, as the youngest president of all time, saved America from a nuclear conflict, was handsome and skillful. All of this sums up the state of mind Americans associate with secure leadership...

There was a period of time where between my friends and I we declared Will Smith the savior of the world. Independence Day (1996), Men in Black (1997), Wild Wild West (1999), Men in Black II (2002), I Robot (2004) We'd be like, "Want to go see Will Smith save the world again?" these movies all released about or on 4th of July weekend.

They originally filmed Russell Casse being rejected to fly in the final attack on the alien ship because of his alcoholism and showing up the save the day with a missile strapped to the side of his cropduster plane already knowing that he will have to ram his plane into the aliens' main weapon to stop it. However, in a test screening the audience laughed at how ridiculous it looked for his old propeller drive biplane to be keeping pace with supersonic jet fighters as they "plowed the road" for him, and the story was changed to what you see now. The biggest advantage of the change is that you get to see him as he makes the heroic but heartbreaking decision to sacrifice his life for his children.

I always found it weird that the two airforce guys looked at Russel weird when he said he was kidnapped by aliens. They're literally at war with aliens, at Area 51 with 4 alien corpses and a spaceship while he's saying it and they still doubt that it happened... At this point I'd be willing to give him the benefit of doubt. 🤣

@@EmmaReactions The actor that plays Will Smith's pilot friend, who puts his head on Smith's shoulder, is Harry Connick Jr.. Before, during and after his acting career he has had a wonderful career as a musician. Connick is a composer, a pianist, a composer and a bandleader. He has put out some wonderful albums in a jazz vein. He performed the most of the soundtrack to the movie When Harry Met Sally, which is composed of largely covers of jazz standards.

Originally Russel Kay was going to show up in the finale with a missile strapped to his biplane, after they rejected him as a pilot. Test audiences reacted negatively to the idea that he decided to commit suicide ahead of time, so they put him in an F/A-18. You saw the rest. A great summer epic.

Independence Day is a great classic movie and even one of the best in those years by the Fox studio, currently Disney. If I'm not mistaken, Will Smith played a great role in that movie and thanks to that he was famous worldwide and very Dear, I still have the UHD, Blu-ray, DVD and VHS editions of this movie 😊✨ There were some scenes that left me speechless, for example the aliens, Area 51, which is still controversial What do you think of this?

It's an understandable interpretation. The outer "suit" was actually designed to be the alien's body. And so was the inner one. They were alternative designs put forward by the design team. The director liked both and decided to use them as we see in the movie.

And he went there to save her, cause he told her to come to his base where he thought she would be safe...

Do Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Both of them. The original Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) is legendary, must-see American Sci-fi. A remake of it, released in 1978, is also a classic, and appropriately equal in popularity to the first, and stars a young Jeff Goldblum. p.s. That's Harvey Fierstein's regular voice.

Well done watching the extended cut. I watched it twice in big & good theathers when it came out, right after Stargate, and it was insane. I love to rewatch it from time to time to have good feels about humanity. Anyway, kisses & love from France.

Great reaction Emma (again) ... Most of the graphics would fit well in todays movies ... The " President's " speech must be one of the all time great movie speeches ... good one Emma
