Independence kid here, and I really appreciate all of the kind words about our show. I’m so happy we’ve left such a good impression on everyone who’s seen it, and knowing that we’re never going to perform this show again makes me tear up. Addressing the negative attitude, I don’t understand why people were apparently being toxic about placing third. I will admit, I did make a few jokes about the light hearted emoji show destroying everyone, but nobody should have been disappointed that we didn’t win. Our school literally opened in 2019, and even at the start of this season, nobody thought we would make it this far so soon. Placing third is absurd enough lol.

As someone who is in the Inde band, I’m so sorry if our reaction felt negative. I am personally very proud to have placed 3rd at Liberty yesterday and know many others who are too. We all put in our best effort and that’s all that mattered. James Madison highschool and Basset highschool both had amazing visuals and incredible performances. I congratulate them and can’t wait to see their shows next year. I think part of the negativity came from the fact that we have grown to have a bit of a rivalry with James Madison highschool and were hoping to beat them, but that shouldn’t stop us from being proud of all the hard work we put into our show and respecting the hard work that both Basset and James Madison also put into their shows. Thank you for saying something about this, I will remember what you’ve said and carry it with me into the next marching season! (Also thank you for your comment about our show, it warms my heart that so many people enjoyed it! I was an incredibly fun show to work on.)

yet another indy marching band kid here most of the people I was talking to were just making jokes of how we lost to candy and emojis, in reality james madison and basset are both really incredible ands and at the start of the season we didn’t think we would make anywhere near top 3 although the kind words are very much appreciated

The opener is an original piece, the second is called scramble by tod stalter, and im not quite sure about the third, but the closer is in the hall of the mountain king. I was in this performance and it is to this day my favorite show ive done.
