Is India becoming a dictatorship? India goes to the polls for pivotal national elections in April and May 2024. As things stand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to secure a third term. Despite the country's strong democratic foundations, there is increasing unease about the implications of Modi’s anticipated victory. Concerns are specifically centred around India's drift towards religious and nationalist authoritarianism, prompting allegations of Modi's potential dictatorial bent. The broader international context reflects a disturbing shift from liberal democracy to authoritarian regimes, with India becoming a focal point of this global trend. The nation's longstanding pluralistic, multiparty system and constitutional protections are perceived to be at risk, indicating a critical juncture for Indian democracy.
The Republic of India, recognised for its vast cultural diversity and complex demographics, is the world's most populous democracy. Its geographical expanse makes it the seventh-largest country globally. India's population is currently around 1.3 billion, with a linguistic mosaic that includes 22 official languages and a religious tapestry predominantly Hindu, but also encompassing Islam, Christianity, Sikhism, Buddhism, and Jainism. Governed as a federal parliamentary democracy, India maintains significant centralised control over key policy areas. Historical highlights of India include its ancient civilisation, colonial past, and the post-independence challenges it faced under its leaders, Jawaharlal Nehru and his daughter, Indira Gandhi. The Indian National Congress initially dominated politics after independence with a vision grounded in secular socialism. However, the emergence of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), advocating Hindu nationalism, has altered the political landscape, especially under Modi's leadership. With a controversial track record and a centralising governance style, Modi's tenure has sparked debates about the state of democracy in India, setting the stage for an election that may define the nation's democratic trajectory.

This is another one of those videos I have long wanted to make. India has such an incredible modern history. But is its reputation as the world's largest democracy really now at risk, as some suggest? Or are fears that Modi is becoming dangerously authoritarian overblown? If so, how should we regard Modi? As always, I look forward to hearing your thoughts and comments below.

@@karankapoor2701 No. In the US the 3 branches of government are separate, and Biden has no say in the trial, and Trump did try to overthrow the government with foreign and domestic help twice. If the US was like India, Biden would use government money to buy up all major corporations and medias, use the military to indimidate republicans, and cut down civilian groups. Again, the context of the Ayodhya temple is left out, either by accident or intentionally. The site where the "mosque once stood" is generally accepted by most Hindus to be the one of the most important sites in Hinduism, as the birthplace of the important deity Rama, and this belief predates the mosque and there is significant evidence to this end. To be clear, nobody is condoning the manner in which the mosque was destroyed or the accompanying violence, but the mosque wasn't just demolished to harass Muslims as is (maybe not deliberately) suggested, as most ordinary Hindus believe this was an ancient pilgrimage site and it is not controversial at all among the Hindu community, but rather suggesting that Hindu beliefs are less important than other faiths definitely is. This shows a clear lack of respect for Hindu beliefs, almost suggesting that Hindus made up the belief that Rama was born there. The Ayodhya dispute is not about Islamophobia, just like the church at Jesus' prophesied birthplace is not Islamophobic. And yes, the mosque that "once stood there" was deliberately built at that site and was thus, called the Masjid-i-Janmasthan (or Mosque at the Birthplace). I apologize if this comes across as too rude, but I feel it is important to point out these things because if not clarified, it can lead to further misunderstanding about the general Hindu public (because most Hindus do support the temple but not due to religious hatred against Muslims).

# The Ayodhya Temple Dispute: A Landmark Supreme Court Verdict ## Abstract The Ayodhya temple dispute, a longstanding legal battle, culminated in a historic judgment by the Supreme Court of India on November 9, 2019. This essay provides an overview of the context, legal proceedings, and implications of the court's decision, which allocated the disputed land for the construction of a Hindu temple and provided an alternative site for a mosque. ## Introduction The Ayodhya dispute revolves around a piece of land in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, which holds immense religious significance for both Hindus and Muslims. The contentious issue has been a subject of intense debate, legal battles, and communal tensions for decades. The Supreme Court's verdict sought to address the ownership claims and pave the way for a resolution. ## Background 1. **Historical Context**: - Ayodhya is believed to be the birthplace of Lord Rama, a revered deity in Hinduism. The Babri Masjid, constructed in the 16th century, stood on the disputed site. However, historical records indicate that a Ram Mandir (temple) existed at the same location before the mosque was built. - The demolition of the Ram Mandir in 1528 and the subsequent construction of the Babri Masjid marked the beginning of the dispute. 2. **Allahabad High Court Verdict (2010)**: - The Allahabad High Court pronounced its judgment on September 30, 2010. The three-judge bench ruled that the 2.77 acres of Ayodhya land should be divided into three parts: - One-third to the deity Ram Lalla (represented by the Hindu Mahasabha). - One-third to the Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Waqf Board. - One-third to the Nirmohi Akhara. - The court affirmed that the disputed land was indeed the birthplace of Lord Rama and that the Babri Masjid was constructed after demolishing a pre-existing Hindu temple. ## The Supreme Court Verdict (2019) 1. **Allocation of Land**: - The Supreme Court ordered the entire disputed land (2.77 acres) to be handed over to a trust (to be created by the Indian government) for the construction of the Ram Janmabhoomi temple. - Simultaneously, the court directed the government to allocate an alternative 5 acres of land to the Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Waqf Board at another suitable location within Ayodhya for the construction of a mosque. 2. **Basis for Decision**: - The court considered evidence of continuous worship by Hindus at the disputed structure. The Hindu parties presented stronger evidence in this regard. - The Sunni Waqf Board failed to establish ownership through adverse possession or waqf (endowment). 3. **Implications**: - The judgment settled the long-standing dispute, allowing for the construction of the Ram temple. - It aimed to balance the interests of both communities by providing an alternative site for the mosque. ## Conclusion The Supreme Court's decision in the Ayodhya temple dispute marked a significant moment in India's legal history. While it resolved a contentious issue, it also underscored the need for communal harmony and respect for diverse religious sentiments. The allocation of land for both the temple and the mosque reflects the court's attempt to strike a delicate balance between faith and justice²³⁴. These people label popular leaders in developing countries as “dictators”. They call the same thing about popular President of El Salvador, who greatly improved his country. The only one they don’t call dictators though are unpopular leaders in North America/ Europe who call crush peaceful protests like Trudeau who crushed the trucker’s protest in Canada while indulging in a huge number of corruption without consequences.

For the first thirty years of Indian independence, India had a complete dominance at the hands of the Congress party. After that, the congress violently tried to cling on to that power, sometimes succeeding, sometimes failing, till it collapsed in the 1990s. From 1991 to 2014 we had real multi party democracy and a somewhat even playing field between different parties, an opposition party that had actual teeth. Now we are reverting to the original system of guided democracy, but with an entirely different party at the helm, with a dramatically different set of values.

As an indian i can say as many as reason to vote for modi, but i will give you some important reason only:- 1) Tax reforms and demonitisation :- before GST india has the worst tax reforms systems in the world , he was the leader who take this powerful decision to change the reforms 2) make in india:- India exports is rising ,we are gaining technology, our defence export are increasing, a time was there when we use to purchase defence equipment from russia, today a time we are making defence equipment 3) covid pandemic:- the way the modi govt handle the pandemic I can't think any leader will able to handle that( i remember everybody in the world saying how is going to mange this they don't have health infrastructure, they don't have hygiene but the leader managed it better than a developed country) 4) Opposition:- the opposition leader Rahul gandhi whenever talks about china , i am sure that he is going to sell the land of the country to china , he is not at all confident about our army about our capabilities And if you see her manifesto and promises he will increase the reservation in india, he will abolished agneepath scheme Finally i will say that yes opposition is becoming weak and it's not good for healthy democracy but the opposition will say that we are becoming weak so pls give us vote then it's not a proper reason. They have to have some kind of responsibility towards the country just because our democracy structure is becoming weak we are not going to give vote to wrong leader😊

# The Resounding Achievements of the Modi Government: A Comprehensive Analysis ## Abstract The tenure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been marked by significant policy reforms, economic transformations, and assertive leadership on the global stage. This essay examines the achievements of the Modi government, emphasizing their impact on India's socio-economic landscape. From tax reforms to pandemic management, the government's actions have left an indelible mark on the nation. ## Introduction India, as a vibrant democracy, has witnessed dynamic shifts in governance over the years. The Modi government, which assumed office in 2014, embarked on a transformative journey, aiming to address critical challenges and propel the nation toward progress. In this essay, we delve into the resounding achievements of the Modi administration, highlighting key areas of impact. ## Tax Reforms and Demonetization The Goods and Services Tax (GST) reform stands as a watershed moment in India's tax history. Before its implementation, the country grappled with a complex and inefficient tax system. Prime Minister Modi's decisive leadership led to the adoption of GST, streamlining tax administration and promoting economic growth. Additionally, the bold move of demonetization-replacing high-denomination currency notes-aimed at curbing black money circulation and formalizing the economy. ## Make in India Initiative The "Make in India" campaign sought to transform India into a global manufacturing hub. Its impact has been palpable-exports have surged, and the nation has gained technological prowess. Notably, the defense sector witnessed a paradigm shift-from reliance on foreign imports to indigenous production of defense equipment. India's self-reliance in defense manufacturing has bolstered national security. ## Effective Handling of the COVID-19 Pandemic The COVID-19 pandemic posed unprecedented challenges globally. India, with its vast population and diverse healthcare infrastructure, faced immense pressure. However, the Modi government's response was commendable. Despite initial skepticism, India managed the crisis adeptly, outperforming even some developed nations. The leadership's focus on healthcare infrastructure, vaccination drives, and public awareness campaigns played a pivotal role. ## Strengthening India's Position on the Global Stage Prime Minister Modi's assertive foreign policy has elevated India's standing internationally. His unwavering commitment to national security, strategic partnerships, and regional stability has been evident. Whether addressing border tensions or advocating for India's interests in multilateral forums, the government has consistently projected India as a responsible global player. ## Economic Transformation India's economic trajectory shifted significantly during Modi's tenure. From being part of the "Fragile 5" economies, India now ranks as the fifth-largest economy globally. The sustained growth, despite occasional setbacks due to reforms like demonetization and GST, underscores the government's economic acumen. Inflation control measures have also contributed to macroeconomic stability. ## Expanding Political Footprint The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), under Modi's leadership, expanded its political footprint across states and union territories. From governing seven states in 2014, the BJP now holds power in 15 states and union territories, including politically crucial regions. This electoral success reflects the party's organizational strength and resonates with voters. ## Social Welfare Programs Initiatives such as the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), Jan Dhan Yojana, and Ujjwala Yojana have directly impacted citizens' lives. These programs prioritize inclusive development, addressing housing, financial inclusion, and clean cooking fuel availability. The government's commitment to social welfare underscores its pro-people approach. ## Conclusion While a robust opposition is essential for a healthy democracy, voters must critically evaluate promises and responsibilities. The Modi government's achievements resonate as a testament to their transformative vision for India's progress. As the nation navigates future challenges, these accomplishments serve as guiding beacons, shaping India's destiny on the global stage.

@@JamesKerLindsay # The Digital India Transformation: A Path to a Digitally Empowered Nation ## Abstract The Digital India initiative, launched in 2015, aims to transform India into a digitally empowered society and a knowledge-based economy. Through infrastructural upgrades, enhanced digital literacy, and the promotion of e-services, this program has significantly altered the pace of India's growth story. This essay delves into the key objectives, achievements, and implications of the Digital India campaign. ## Introduction India, with its vast population and diverse socio-economic landscape, embarked on a transformative journey toward digital empowerment. The Digital India program seeks to harness technology to bridge gaps, enhance citizen services, and drive economic progress. By leveraging digital infrastructure, connectivity, and innovation, India aims to position itself as a global digital leader. ## Objectives of Digital India The Digital India initiative encompasses several key objectives: 1. **Digital Infrastructure Enhancement**: - The program focuses on expanding digital infrastructure, including high-speed internet connectivity, mobile networks, and broadband services. Initiatives such as BharatNet aim to connect rural areas, ensuring last-mile connectivity. 2. **Promotion of E-Governance**: - Digital India aims to streamline government services through online platforms. E-governance initiatives facilitate efficient service delivery, reduce bureaucracy, and enhance transparency. 3. **Digital Literacy and Skill Development**: - Enhancing digital literacy is crucial for widespread adoption. The program includes training programs, awareness campaigns, and skill development initiatives to empower citizens with digital knowledge. 4. **Universal Access to Digital Services**: - The campaign seeks to ensure that every citizen can access essential services online. From healthcare to education, e-services are designed to reach all segments of society. 5. **Encouraging Entrepreneurship and Innovation**: - Digital India fosters an entrepreneurial ecosystem by promoting startups, digital innovation, and research and development. Initiatives like Startup India aim to nurture homegrown talent. ## Achievements Made under Digital India Several notable achievements have been realized through the Digital India program: 1. **Financial Inclusion**: - The Jan-Dhan Yojana, a mass financial-inclusion program, significantly increased the share of Indian adults with at least one digital financial account. Currently, 80 percent of adults have access to digital banking services³. 2. **Rapid Digitization**: - India's digital adoption has outpaced many mature and emerging economies. The falling cost of smartphones, widespread availability of high-speed internet, and increased app downloads have contributed to this growth¹. 3. **E-Governance Services**: - Citizens can now access government services online, from applying for documents to paying taxes. Initiatives like e-Kranti and MyGov have transformed the way citizens interact with government agencies. 4. **Digital Literacy Programs**: - The National Digital Literacy Mission (NDLM) and other awareness campaigns have empowered millions of Indians with essential digital skills. Training centers across the country provide hands-on learning opportunities. 5. **Digital Payments Revolution**: - The demonetization move in 2016 accelerated the adoption of digital payment systems. Mobile wallets, UPI, and other digital payment platforms have become integral to daily transactions. ## Implications and Future Prospects The Digital India transformation has far-reaching implications: 1. **Economic Growth**: - A digitally empowered economy can drive innovation, boost productivity, and attract investments. E-commerce, fintech, and IT services are poised for exponential growth. 2. **Inclusive Development**: - Digital services can bridge urban-rural divides, improve healthcare delivery, and enhance education outcomes. The program's success lies in ensuring equitable access for all. 3. **Cybersecurity Challenges**: - As digital adoption increases, cybersecurity becomes critical. Safeguarding data, privacy, and critical infrastructure remains a priority. 4. **Continued Collaboration**: - Public-private partnerships are essential for sustained progress. Industry collaboration, research, and policy support will shape India's digital future. In conclusion, the Digital India initiative represents a transformative force, altering India's growth trajectory. Europeans think India remains a pluralistic democracy because of its constitution or democratic institutions. If so why didn't Afghanistan remain a democracy? What's the state of Pakistan? The reason India remains a democracy is because of its Hindu majority like how Europe is largely democratic because its culturally Christians. The day Muslims becomes significant, democracy cease to exist. As long as Modi is supported by Hindus, they will vote him down when he doesn't deliver. However, the issue of Modi’s rule is a question that’s being asked, internally and externally. And it is an important question. I acknowledge that Modi’s supporters point to significant achievements. Ayodhya Lord Ram's temple is akin to Mecca/Vatican for Hindus. Under Islamic rule, to subjugate the local inhabitants, the Islamic invaders demolished several prominent temples, monasteries (Somnath, Markand Surya temple, Adinath, Kashi Vishwanath, Nalanda complex, etc ) and forcibly built mosques over it to assert dominance. It's not even a Hindu nationalist issue, it was more of a Confederate statue (Babri mosque) being brought down to reinstate the rightful deity back in his abode.

It's a trend the world over, nationalism is growing, in India it's religious nationalism, the need to revive and have Hinduism as the sole preferable state religion.. India is lucky in that this is mostly isolated to Northen India, whereas South India is more educated and forward thinking. The risk for India is when religion starts to get in bed with politicians and dictates aspects of policy, then you risk becoming Pakistan, which as a Pakistani I can tell you, it's not a good place to be. Obviously at the moment there are elections going on, more is put on for a show and some of the hype will go down after the election, or BJP can double down on this rhetoric, it will remain to be seen.

" India is lucky in that this is mostly isolated to Northen India, whereas South India is more educated and forward thinking." - Education and forward thinking doesn't have to do much with divergence between the North and the South. South has not faced Islamic invasions like the North did. South never experienced partition like the North did. Different Societal experiences build different societal behavior. And the South (and East) of India is able to resist BJP, not because they are "educated", but because of having a separate linguistic identity. After watching the video, I think your heart is in the right place (I hope) but your unintended bias comes from the sources you use. Ex. The western media like the BBC and even the likes of Al Jazeera have always held a negative view of India. A few key points would have given your video more context. Therefore, as a first time viewer of your channel, I implore you to dig deeper and give a more complete picture to your viewers. You should put your great narrative skills to good use. 1. There is much more history to the Babri masjid demolition case. Babur was an invader who killed and raped millions of people. The vast majority of people do not subscribe to his ideology. The mosque was built by razing down an important Hindu temple as a show of domination and disrespect. 2. CAA: The neighbouring Muslim majority (And even constitutionally Islamic) countries have a record of persecuting it's minorities. There is no other place for these persecuted Hindus, christians, parsis, jains etc to go except for India. The act is a ONE TIME grant of citizenship to all the minorities who applied for Indian citizenship before 2013. Everyone (Including muslims) can still apply for citizenship the normal way. 3. You have mentioned that PM Modi's governance style is popular among the masses. The reason being: he does good work and isn't corrupt, unlike the current opposition. Just because a leader is leading well and getting people's vote doest make him an Autocrat. That is a fairly negative term to use in my opinion. An autocrat has absolute power and they want the people to obey them without question or hearing their opinion. If you do even a bit of research, you will come to understand how close PM Modi is to the actual people on the ground. He actually listens to what they need and understands their pain because he himself has come from a very poor background. And a huge chunk, of the subsidies and welfare schemes have benefited the Muslim community, disproportionately higher than their population. Multidimensional poverty has come down from 30% to 11%! 4. Stripping of J&K's special status: The vast majority of Muslim population did not oppose the abrogation of article 370, as you incorrectly claim in your video. It was only opposed by a few elite muslim leaders who were looking after their own interests. Even going so far as to claim that the act would cause rivers of blood to flow. Despite their fear-mongering, the govt went along with it and the result is that the entire state's GDP has doubled and the people have MORE FREEDOM than before. You can watch numerous videos on youtube where the locals thank the central govt for its bold actions and bringing peace and stability to the region which experienced terrorism, unemployment and numerous other ghastly conditions. I trust that if you have the heart to get to the actual truth, you will find that what I have written actually corroborates to reality. You have earned a temporary subscriber! Let's see how it goes 🙃

Thank you. :-) As I always say, I make my videos for a general audience hoping to get a quick understanding of an issue. I don’t see them as the last word on an issue. Instead, I hope they can be a good starting point for someone who would like to go and learn more. It’s impossible to cover this topic fully in any 10-15 minute video. There are entire university courses to Indian history and politics. There have been growing comments about India’s political direction and so I hope to put these discussions in a readily accessible broader context. Obviously, there will be all sorts of elements that people would like to have seen expanded, but I hope I provided a broadly fair look at the question. In any case, I hope you enjoy the channel. I do try to cover a diverse range of topics.

All of this is nonsense btw. Babri Masjid's archeological survey was highly controversial and vague, in contrast to places like Kashi Vishwanath that was historically recorded to be destroyed by Aurangzeb, so most Hindutvadis just argued that it was Ram's Birthplace because of popular folklore And the part about GDP is also not true. Not different from China, the Modi admin obscured data from non-formal non-agriculture businesses to obscure the collapse and immiseration of urban migrant workers in India. Actually reliable criterion for poverty like the Tendulkar committee's recommendation on lumpsum prices of essential goods are often ignored

I just want to say as an Indian, very balanced video Professor. I am neither pro BJP nor anti BJP. Similarly I am neither pro Congress nor anti Congress. From a bigger picture and long term point of view, while BJP has done exceptionally well for our economy and international relations, for our country to do really well in a democracy in the long term we really need a strong opposition that challenges the ruling party to get the best out of themselves. Ultimately, the country will benefit from that. If we end up having a party like Congress that ruled us for 40-50 years or BJP that is setting things in motion for another 20-30 years of dominance, in the long term we may not end up being a developed country. Checks and balances should be seen as a positive rather than an obstacle that needs to be destroyed. With a weakened and destroyed opposition which Congress did to other parties back in the past and which BJP is also doing now, we will destroy our pillars of democracy which is not good in the long run if we want to become a developed country.

Thank you so much for the comment. I know many of your compatriots haven’t liked it, but they seem to have simply objected to the fact that the question could even have been asked; without even bothering to wait to hear the answer. But it seems like there are real concerns mounting about the style of government, even if the results of that government are impressive. I completely agree that a successful democracy is also part of the broader success of the country. The problem with the argument from some that India is doing well and so it should look the other way to democratic backsliding is what happens when it isn’t doing so well?

@@JamesKerLindsay not to mention that Congress keeps shooting at its own foot by continuing to prop up the Gandhi nepotistic dynasty rather than introduce some meritocracy in its ranks. But for the sake of the argument we are a country with 1.4 billion diverse people with multiple languages, religions, cultural identities, ethnicities., with millions of diverse world-views We need to strike the right balance between democracy and authority. If there is too much democracy then there will so many leaders just debating and bickering about and ultimately nothing gets done and no progress is made. If there is too much authority then it will erode on freedoms. India is probably the most challenging country to be governed. Till now as a nation we have done very well to somehow thrive. Thanks. I completely agree. I’ve worked on politics long enough to know that democracy needs to be flexible to meet the demands of a particular political and social context. But there are certain underlying features of a democratic system - such as a truly free press and judiciary - that matter. The title is provocative, but this video is an excellent summary of India's recent political history. Non-Indians should find this video very informative. Though I disagree with a few things: 1) Collapse of the soviet union was a victory of liberal-capitalism over communism, and not of liberal-democracy over communism. The liberal west went overboard with its support of its illiberal dictatorial allies after this event, ex. Pakistan/Saudis in India's neighborhood, and India a socialist democracy lost an important international ally. 2) The ratings agencies (for press-freedom, democracy etc) are all based in latitudes north of 48 degrees, NATO ally countries, their surveys are not opaque, methodologically poor and consistently produce absurd results such as Qatar having greater press-freedom than India. Makes these ratings/indices an invalid point for criticism of Modi. 3) Showing Rathee and the Guardian journalist as representative of main critics of Modi is a dis-service to those that politically oppose him. I have never seen these "international" (western, NATO) journalist in India put in the effort to learn and speak a local language and try and engage with the vernacular speaking population, as to why they vote for Modi or anyone else. Therefore they fall prey to English old-elite interest groups and form a skewed picture to the world.

The Collective West is essentially monolithic, rigid, judgmental, and convinced of its own religious and racial superiority. It cannot absorb that, in fact, India is, by the West's own standards, a far superior polity. India is an ancient society with democracy in its DNA. Over 10,000 years, India evolved a social structure that is resilient and able to accept, not merely tolerate, the diversity of its people and ideas as its strength, not weakness. Such a society is unimaginable to the Collective West and therefore the West insists on assessing India by its own shallow, superficial philosophies. The Collective West was build on the brutal looting and systematic destruction of Indian wealth and society over centuries which hid its own fault-lines. Without the loot stolen from its colonies, the Collective West will continue to implode. So, it strives to continue colonization via other means, primarily economic and religious coercion. Commentaries from the Collective West should therefore be understood as steeped in ignorant superciliousness.

From being anti Modi to slightly pro Modi, here's my take. 1) We don't have a bloody choice right now. The opposition is fragmented, mostly dynasty parties and basically no one (except being relatives of powerful people) 2) India has finally got the posturing right on Kashmir. 370 and response to terrorist state of Pakistan is right. There is no point in making peace with terrorists 3) Playing a reasonably fine balance between US, China and Russia. You can't trust China but can't completely antagonize them 4) Remarkable stability of macros. Fiscal deficit, growth, markets.. everything screams stability. They are really investing in infrastructure including expressways, trains and airports..the changes are visible. Stock market EPS is the highest in history, let alone market levels. 5) I really don't like their Hindu fanatic posturing (necessary at times but they are definitely overdoing it). They have unleashed a bunch of rabid right wing dogs everywhere. 6) Taxation of salaries class is horrendous. They haven't fixed the real tax issues or the legal system or the police system. 7) They favor too much of Gujarat and Adanis of the world leaving the other states in lurch. On balance, not the best option but it would be worse with opposition.

hello professor , good to see you again . the topic is really hot and I am glad you picked it up . The recent happenings are very true and speculations are damn right that bjp is indeed coming to power again in the country ... but the topic that is debated is if india is becoming a dictatorship ... that i would clearly deny as that public mandate goes strong with bjp while there are almost 55% people in india that rejects that party. the biggest pron about bjp is they fulfill their promises article 370 that was acting as a shield for the growing terrorism in the kashmir region , RAM mandir that is not a controversy but the solution the babri masjid that is proclaimed was just a structure loosely built upon the remains of ram mandir (and it was not taken forcefully but only after the judgment of supreme court of india) ...and similarly th sc of india gave clean chit to pm modi for gujarat riots . the other points being about the freedom of press in india sry to say that but press was never free here before 2014 it was a tool for leftist while now it is for the right . the reign of bjp is not a fruitcake for everyone it is just that bjp is far better than the opposition parties ... some of the biggest scandals happened during the tenure of congress while it is less likely in bjp rule even though there are cases . BJP is just using the system actively and strongly for it's own benefit and they cannot appease everyone . as allowing muslims from neighbouring countries doesn't makes any sense as the sole purpose for the partition was the demand of muslims only ... why they want to come back now , as we are already dealing with illegal rohingya muslims immigrants . last time india was partitioned the muslim population was 25% ... after partition they were 9% and now they are increased to 18% again ....we cant deal with their ideas again as what is happening already in kashmir, bengal and kerala. india has been secular because the majority population here are hindus but one community doesnt understand it here . the only possible way india can flourish along with all other south asian countries is that the muslim community starts being more rational than radical. the only people that are crying on youtube are funded by leftist and people applauding bjp are funded by the rightist... no one here is actually centrist(the ones who are stay away from politics)

Starting from 12:40 it was mentioned that there have been concerns about "centralization of power" and "challenges to democratic freedoms" but there was no mention of which policies specifically might centralize power and/or limit democratic freedoms. Yeah, western narrative where they use some political and democratic terms but don't provide much context about them. Just like a narcissist journalist being hyperbole:)

Democracy in many different county has vulnerabilities I think but that is what makes it precious and to be protected. It's always easy.... No matter what political / ruling system nis in place for those seeking power and control to become authoritarian and/or dictatorial. To use their systems to intimidate. Misguided. Discriminate and abuse others who do not fit. It's very very sad and. In many many cases people do not have awareness of their histories and encouragement to reflect and work to ensure better futures. None of us are free from risks of such leaderships or supporting them. I think the more we are able to learn about others, Ourselves, the meaning of being a good human being, the better able we become to ensure societies run on democracy, human rights and respect. Dear sir, Things are quite unstable in less powerful countries. In india, besdies the constant terror threat, bigger powers use less powerful economies as a playground for shaping public opinion and pushing regime change. People are just voting for a leader they think will keep them safe. As soon as there is a better leader people will vote for her/him. Thanks for all your videos
