Something a little different today; you think you've done it all and been adventurous while you've been doing it but have you ever thought about touring India on a Royal Enfield? Possibly not but, as Clinton Pienaar found out, this was the holiday of a lifetime.

royal enfileld should design a twin cylinder engine with a displacement of at least 750 cc motorcycle with dual cradle chassis, that would really be cool.

well RE is now coming up with exactly the same with continental GT. Parallel twin 750cc engine (which will churn out around 60 horses and same or more amount of torque), dual cradle chassis, freaking brembo brakes and ton more.

been there done that,,on my royal enfield obviously , from delhi to spiti valley-manali- delhi.spend 10000 rupees. one hell of an adventure.great experience. please carry your balls ha ha ha

You can do it for way cheaper if you are willing to do bit of work yourself. There are lot of bike rental places which offer bikes for a 1000 Indian bucks which is less than 20 US. Accommodation is quite cheap too but will need advanced booking. The passes are open only at certain time of the year for the general public and you will have to get permits for certain areas as it is the border region. The place is Ladhak. The higher point is Khardung la

Sounds Similar to Vietnam, much cheaper if you do it yourself, although having a translator is probably super duper nice to have, that is probably the biggest problem. I think I'd rather ride it on a more modern bike then those old heavy machines, but probably fun to do in a group too! Cool stuff!

that colour prayer flag in spiti is called "lungta" literal translation of the word in english is "wind horse" its a buddhist ritual to tie the lungta in higher mountains or any higher place from the ground. the belief is that there is more wind on top and more the flag gets wind more the prayer spread across the land...

i did the same ride.i spent around 30k (including bike rentals,meals,n everything) hardly 500 usd.i dont know how it costs 4000usd to foreigners.

Im integration with people with India and from UK ... now, becouse in my opinion every human can working at own country, and nobody needs go to any coutnry for money. Don't know why people are so infatuated by Long Journeys on a Royal Enfield. I had one for 15 years.The most unreliable choice for a long Journey is Royal Enfield Bullet. Overheating, Vibration, Poor off road performance. Karizma would be a better choice.
