India Receives a Record $111 Billion in Remittances: What Does it Mean? | Vantage with Palki Sharma
In a world first, Indians living abroad have set a major record by sending $111 billion back to the country as remittances. The remittances make up around 3% of India's GDP. Indians working high skilled jobs in developed nations now make up for 36% of the remittances received. This has helped boost the total amount of what the country receives in remittances annually. An assessment by the World Bank reveals that remittances to India will continue to rise in 2024, too. Notably, no other country has ever crossed the $100 billion mark in this domain. On Vantage, Palki Sharma analyses why this is a significant milestone.

Not to mention ALL kinds of everyday taxes that's attached to food services, energy, gas, etc etc etc. With roughly around 20M NRI Indians around the world (not just U.S.), let's just say half that sent money back, now this is a very high figure I'm using, they'd literally have to send about $11,000 free and clear of taxes and all living expenses back to India. How is this even possible??? And NOT every Indian has high paying jobs. The numbers are ALL bogus and laughable to begin with as how India 'grows'.

Ironically, NRIs do not get benefits like jobs in India due to the hectic politics in employment sectors, which government should take care of. Most of the banks, like SBI, IOB, make it difficult for NRIs to open an account. Moreover, their apps and websites are not well maintained abroad, do not open, and do not respond to any emails or calls. Getting OTPs abroad is always problematic. These NRIs invest abroad, with no ways to send money back to India. Most importantly, NRIs buy many products from India, in USD, which is not taken into account. So in total, it might cross 150 billion USD, if government acts accordingly.
@YouCantHandleTheTruth.
@YouCantHandleTheTruth. 24 күн бұрын
As I've posted this many times. First of all I don't believe ANY of this and I don't know how the Indians come up with this RIDICULOUS and BOGUS figure. There are only about 10-20 million NRIs around the world and most of the ones here in the United States that I personally know DO NOT send any money back to India other than tourism and they don't go often. Now if you're confusing this with 'tourism' which I know it is nowhere near the number, than India is definitely DOOMED. I know it's election time, but you can't _cheat_ to win, and there's an old saying: _"a cheater never wins'_

Especially the govt. should look into people going to Europe and far east and their pervert purpose for holidays. We have over 15 eco systems in the sub continent from seashore, hills to deserts to snow covered paradise. But we cannot develop for environment reasons. Foreign education is another drain. No foreign country accepts Indian degrees of late and want to at least take 1 degree from the host country to be employed. Foreign destination marriages are another bane on the economy. If India opens up its traditional medicine even that could save.
