You are absolutely right. It is the only endian advance technology.. they are way ahead in the scamming technology. Not because they are smarter, but because they don't have morality. And the scamming industry is supported all the way from the top at the level of the butcher of Gujarat to the local mafia... hence it thrives like no other countries.

First of all, good research Wion, I hadn't come across many of the points you've covered during my research. I'm writing a business paper on the topic of the semiconductor industry's potential in India. I can't write the following in my paper so I'm writing it all here Yes, there is plenty of intent from the government end to make India a hub for semiconductor manufacturing. Problem is just providing subsidies, making compliance easier (of laws which are already non-sensical btw) and 'dreaming big' doesn't work when it comes to producing cutting edge tech which needs educated professionals and merit. India has tried to become the hub of many things under Namo govt which is great, but, the root problem for the failure of many such initiatives lies at the fact that education in India sucks absolute balls, until and unless the entire higher education system is rid of bogus degrees, unqualified professors and dummy colleges we won't get anywhere. Hedonistic bureaucrats and politicians eat up all the money, while the MNC struggles with compliance, finding workers with practical skills, fight costly and EXTREEEMLY long litigation or arbitration over n number of useless compliances. I've personally seems so many company recruiters saying it to the face that the first 6 months to a year, the employees are just trained about basic skills that unis never taught them. We are becoming a cesspool of excess and mediocracy, our growth is on the back of the exploitation of middle class while the upper classes leave the country or invest abroad and the lower class chills in life living in subsidies and personal favours.

I read your thoughts very carefully and everything you wrote is correct. I am from India. But I think India was facing all these difficulties and problems in space technology also. It took time for us to succeed but eventually India reached the moon. It may take 50 years for India to produce good quality semiconductor chips but one day it will definitely happen. 😊😊😊

THE ONLY PROBLEM 100s or 1000s of company have moved away or reluctant to move to INDIA is bureaucracy and false promises. If INDIAN GOV make provisions with appropriate platform for startups INDIA can grow exponentially and win the WORLD RACE in next 10- 15 Yrs.

Everyone in India has a toilet is highly unlikely. India took one tiny step into space and you seem to claim it is a Space Superpower. India simply buys foreign components and license foreign technology to put together a finished product. India has nothing of any significance designed and manufactured indigenously.

They have great plans with words. But India's problem is their workforce consists of too many talks and lacks the finishing touch. Check out their military aviation accidents. Check out their fallen bridges and dams. They started a fighter plane project back in 1986??? Completed around 30 years later. They build an aircraft carrier with sailors pissing off the deck. Their recent moon landing success required help from NASA, USA. If they don't solve this big-mouth problem, no way they can accomplish significant projects. By the way, they are excellent backstabbers and are never responsible for mistakes.

It won't work. The Indian capitalists are too greedy. The rule sof the game in semicondutors is in the knowledge based economy. The ownership of patents and the lincensing is were the biggest profit margins lies. There are patents on designs ( the knowledge of how it works) and the knowledge of industrial processes (the knowledge how to build it). India is at the entry level of fabrication where they will have to manufacture with liicenses of both design and industrial processes. Their only way to make profits is by having lower production costs than their world's competitors. Which are mainly construction quality/price ratio, energy quality/price ratio, supply chain quality/price ratio and manpower quality/price ratio. The current situation is not favorable for high profit margins for Indian investors. Unless there are significant changes in Indian investors mentaliity my guess is there won't be any chances that those projects will succeded in the long term. The American owners of semiconductor patents will never tolerate that the Indian government engage in State funded R&D to build up, like China, a domestic portfolio of patents in design and industrial processes where the bigger profits lie.

Exactly ! China will not allow America to poke their noses in China's business; that is the reason China has surpassed the US even in semiconductor production. For India a dream is reality ! They believe that "if China can do it, India can do better; but sir why then is China's economy 5 times bigger than that of India's ?
@johnsmith-cw3wo
@johnsmith-cw3wo 7 ай бұрын
@@Basic.handles would need a help from ''THE WEST'' with bans so local chip industry can grow. sound contra productive, but no one can build something good and cheap the first time. so even if India develop a chip, no one will buy it. (even customers from India) so no further development will be possible... now... with a little ban, local customers would buy the inferior chips if they are forced, and hope for a better development in the future.

Nonsense all hi tech gadgets China builds used foreign made chips all China can do is steal foreign intellectual properties and than copies it china does not want to invest in technologies like the west did in order to become what the west is now but took centuries in the contrary china pushes to be a superpower in just a few decades by -forces intellectual property transfer from foreign companies and then copies them since they are unable to invent anything and what they produce is of shoddy quality: all gadgets made in china do not last and need to be replaced after a few uses -debt traps entire nations -forces organ transplants -oppresses its own nice productive citizen We the western world need to reverse and accelerate the outsourcing of our economy to china and companies which refuse need to be boycotted -imagine shipping resources to china and than shipping back manufactured goods it is an environmental crime globalization only serves the shareholders and not the consumers since replacing the shoddy products once or twice.... is much more costly

Indian chips have made major breakthroughs thanks to the efforts of IIT Bombay - Indian Institute of Technology, and their energy efficiency is 33 times that of the traditional Western von Neumann architecture. This will allow India to lead the semiconductor industry and the United States will be far behind in fields such as autonomous driving and artificial intelligence.
