The point of the comment section is to make a judgement based on the video. Saying that people shouldn't make negative comments means that people shouldn't make positive comments. Where did the mentality come from that makes all people uninterested, unimpressed, etc., Jealous? It's possible for someone to not like something and not be jealous at the same time.

+Kitos96 you can criticize her if she misrepresented the recipe, but she didn't since she said many times it's how she wants to make it. it's pretty obvious she's not indian, and she should make her own version and not immitate someone else's..

Hey Laura, I am a regular follower of your channel(s) and therefore aware of the regular complaints about your dishes "not being authentic". I am an Indian who absolutely loves butter chicken, and can proudly say you did an awesome job! As you said, authentic or not, a dish should be delicious and I am sure each one of yours is :-)

I'm Indian & this dish originated from Delhi. You're right butter chicken means it's cooked in butter not oil but please don't use olive oil, instead use canola or vegetable oil. Also you're recipe is very authentic. I'm really impressed.

Aki Inokuchi Well, we Indians don't use much olive oil in our food, to begin with. Secondly, olive oil has a strong flavor and that is gonna dominate the dish which will make it taste & smell less like butter chicken. Think using mustard oil in your pasta instead of olive oil. We feel the same about using olive oil in Indian dishes. My mom usually uses a mix of flavorless vegetable oil (like Sunflower oil) and butter. Hope this explains it to you! :)

First off Indian Independence Day was August 15!! What a Perfect time for the Indian Recipes :) I'm Indian and my parents are both from different states in India. Even Indians make many dishes different then the next person. People need to understand that they are not the only people living in this world and everything doesn't revolve around them. Especially with how much the internet connects us all! I am just honored that you love Indian food and excited to see your version of it! I have been watching your videos for few years now and so happy to see how far you have come! Keep up the great work and good luck with everything! Also from what I understand in a lot of places in India we call it "Malai chicken" Malai is the thick cream and I guess translated it became butter

Has ventured into the kitchen and I swear by you I'm one of your biggest fans and thank you so much we appreciate what you do. You show that cooking doesn't always mean follow a recipe Sometimes ya gotta. Make do with what ya. Got :-) going to make those. Italian butter cookies with him which is exciting already used your blueberry muffin recipe and used white chocolate and British strawberries instead and the levelling worked you're amazing !!!!

Hey Laura, I just wanted to tell you that, its not just the simplicity of your recipes that keeps me coming back for more, but also your enthusiasm for food and cooking. I love the way you articulate your feelings while cooking. Now, I know most people feel offended with the suggestions offered in the comments, but as a fellow foodie and cooking lover, I couldn't help but suggest, may be next time you can try and fry the onion and tomatoes mixture, till the oil separates, without adding water. You can even store that paste in refrigerator and it will keep for couple of weeks at least. once oil is separated, you can continue on with the same recipe with water and rest of ingredients. That's just a common technique used in Punjabi cooking (since it is a Punjabi dish). You will notice the change in taste. It renders very subtle, almost smoky flavour to the recipe. Once again, thank you for taking up this dish, Its my favourite too!!

Quick tip, after adding the spices let them cook out and fry in the hot oil for a bit longer to really release their flavour before adding the tomato sauce 👌

Laura in the Kitchen Butter Chicken is traditionally a northern dish in India, specifically it is a part of the Punjabi cuisine. Punjab is a northern province in India and is known for having a far reaching cultural impact on defining what Indian cuisine is perceived as in other countries. Mostly because the people of Punjab were one of the first people to start migrating everywhere in the world even during the British colonial era. Punjabi people are enterprising people, so wherever they went they took their food with them. Some of the first western nations they moved to were Canada and Britain. Canada has known their food longer than Americans have. India is a multi-ethnic nation. Here we don't define ethnicity in terms of race relations as in North America. The differences are kinda European in nature. So for instance Italians and say the Swedish have completely different cultures, history, language, art and food but they are part of the same European story. Similarly Indian provinces are also defined by differences in ethic language, history and culture. For Instance Tamil food is completely different from say Gujarati food, and so on. But it still is part of the same Indian story. Political history, the differences and colonial imperialism led to each ethnic community in Europe in establishing different countries in Europe. Our history led to the formation of a single nation, in spite of our differences (India is a huge old world country). Coming to Butter Chicken, the name is probably of British origin but the dish itself is decidedly Indian. In India White Butter is used for this dish which is a much lighter and less refined butter. By contrast in the West mostly reined yellow butter is used, unless it is a very authentic and up market Indian restaurant. Adding the white butter in large quantities adds to a minor difference in flavour while adding richness. I'm from an eastern province called Bihar with a separate ethnic identity from the people of Punjab. Our food tastes nothing like Punjabi food. Although from a western perspective the "curry" factor still remains but flavours are different. Just like for European food generally the "continental" factor remains. It is part of the same cuisine but with major differences. Also Chicken Tikka Masala is a British invention. There was no such thing in India till the British Indians brought it to India quite recetly about 10 years ago. And now you can find it in big Indian cities too. Butter Chicken would ideally mean cooking the chicken with the bone in with bigger pieces. But for the purposes of take away and western tastes, usage of cutlery instead of hands for eating the chicken was reduced to bite sized pieces, in the US, UK and Canada. What else is bite sized in Indian cuisine? The Tandoori cooked chicken Kebabs. So instead of cooking the meat separately the cooks started throwing in Kebabs in the pre-prepared curry gravy. In India we don't grill, bake or broil the meat before throwing it in the curry. In fact the chicken is cooked with the curry. You can use the chiken straight after marination of a couple of hours and it won't make any differnce. In fact you will see that the meat remains juicier that way. This whole business of baking the chicken originated out of a need to quickly prepare Indian food in take away restaurants. Not because that is how it's made. I hope this huge comment makes sense. :P Eitherway I absolutely love your cooking. My advice, cook larger pieces with the bone in the chicken. You won't need to bake it then. And honestly you can let the cream boil after the curry reduces a bit. With all those onions and spices, the cream will NOT split. You can also wait a while before adding in the cream.Wait for the tomato gravy to boil over and simmer and then you can add the cream after some time and cover it to simmer.

Sometimes just to make it extra smooth you can blend the tomato and onion into a thick paste before adding the chicken and heavy cream. It just makes it smoother. But it is always so refreshing to see different takes on it, Believe me, even as Indians we fear to try out recipes. You, are just awesome. Cheers from India!!

+Marlice Kirkevold If you are talking about fresh coriander leaves, then that is the same thing as cilantro. I wasn't sure what cilantro was because I'm from the UK but I looked it up and it is just the American word for coriander. If you are talking about dry coriander spice, I don't see why not but I'm not Indian and don't know what herbs/spices are required in the original recipe. It's up to you how you want to make it. :)

Turmeric is a key ingredient missing, and you have to purée the sauce before you add the chicken and heavy cream. Other than that, it was a good attempt. :)

KissTheR1an the guy is only giving her additional tips. I think she would appreciate it and the way he wrote the comment is not offensive or disrespectful. Maybe next time she'll add the turmeric and it turns out to be even better.

Hi Laura, I am from India and wanted to say this looks amazing! Also about butter chicken containing butter - yes it does.. the entire masala is cooked in butter, also what you can do sometimes if you don't want to add too much butter is - cook it in vegetable oil, then right at the end once the dish is done you can slit 1 fresh green chilly and just add it to the top of the dish with some melted butter and close the lid for 10 minutes, it adds a lovely flavor to the entire gravy.

JOHN 12:44-50 44 And Jesus cried out and said, “Whoever believes in me, believes not in me but in him who sent me. 45 And whoever sees me sees him who sent me. 46 I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness. 47 If anyone hears my words and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world. 48 The one who rejects me and does not receive my words has a judge; the word that I have spoken will judge him on the last day. 49 For I have not spoken on my own authority, but the Father who sent me has himself given me a commandment-what to say and what to speak. 50 And I know that his commandment is eternal life. What I say, therefore, I say as the Father has told me.” Just wanted to share the word of God with you or anyone reading today and I pray that if you don't know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior that you will seek Him and repent and give your life to Him today. He died on the cross to pay for our sins so that we don't have to. He died for us and took the punishment we deserved as sinners against God so that we would not have to endure hell. And He did so because He loves us. And I pray again that today you will leave sin behind and give Christ a chance in your life. He is the only way to eternal life(heaven) and He is waiting with open arms for you. God bless :o)
