My grandfather left India in 1947, and up until then drove locomotives for the Indian Railways. Some of the older diesel locomotives resemble the English Electric model known in Western Australia as the K class. It's always amazed me how the Indian network can bring so much order to the chaos of literally ferrying millions of people and who knows how many tonnnes of freight every day
