This melody/chant has become synonymous with Native Americans mostly due to old Hollywood cowboy films from the 1950s and 60s. This variation was adopted by Florida State as their "War chant."
@tristanmcguire482011 ай бұрын
Pretty sure the original song was written for the University, and the rights to it were sold to Hollywood at the same time for, as you said cowboy & western films.

My great grandmother told me many stories of her and her tribe and how they got sent to reservations back in the beginning of 1900. And she once told me a story that has was in her tribe for over a hundred years. During the French-Indian war her tribe made an assault on a French camp, hundreds of them were there on horseback. And they didn’t even have to attack, they did a war chant and rode down a hill towards them and the French soldiers ran away lol. So I could only imagine how terrifying it must’ve been hearing those chants for the first time

Actually, Florida did have Indians...the Seminoles. They were outcasts of the Creek and Cherokee. It would be fantastic if we could listen to this and not be offended. He is right it is the FSU war chant, and yes it is a modified version of an actual war chant. No need to bring in the Trail of Tears...which, bye the way, didn't even effect the Seminoles or the other two mentioned tribes. It effected the Cherokee.
