Finally a Celeste interview! I'm a huge fan of CC and can't wait to see her feeds to Grace, Celeste, Lexi, Aliyah and the rest of the team.

Looking forward to this preseason game. Just realized just how many guards we have with 8 on the roster. I am not looking forward to the sad cuts we need to make with all the talented players we have. We may need to play small alignment with our second rotation. Just from the outside looking in with absolutely no certainty. I am guessing our starting 5 to be : 1st unit : CC, Lexi Hull, Grace Berger / Katie Lou, Nalyssa Smith, Aliyah Boston. 2nd unit : Erica Wheeler, Kristie Wallace Kelsey Mitchell, Victaria Saxton, Temi Fagbene Reserve : Celeste, Lailani, Maya Caldwell, Damiris Dantas. The reserves don't really follow any rotation schedule but are really there for certain strategies against a specific team or player, and in case of injury. I really don't know all the players and who started last year. I am just guessing based upon who I saw during practice and interviews. Here are the reasons why I chose the lineup above : 1. The third spot is really the Jack or Ace role. This spot can be the defensive specialist or the 3 point shooter. That is why I slid in Katie Lou here because I see her as a wing shooter opposite of CC or when the ball / CC needs to be passed on to to relieve any blitzing CC gets. I have seen Katie Lou and Lexi Hull play this spot shooter role during practice. 2. The second spot can be the veteran guard that slids in whenever Katie Lou gets subbed out and Lexi Hull slides to the three. This role can either be Grace Berger or Erica Wheeler. 3. Second unit can be subbed in whole or partially depending on the rotation schedule. Tbh, I don't know why the Fever selected 3 guards in the draft but my guess is they wanted someone to be groomed in the Jack role as someone that can be both defensive and 3 point shooter. At this moment, Lailani is better overall but Celeste is better defensively. Let's discuss the overall team composition! This will probably be Erica's last year as a player. She is just too short to play PG as the modern PG is more 6 foot-ish. Probably too old as well since the game is fast. I did put her main role is to lead the 2nd unit ala CP3 in the Warriors, which will regularly play 10 - 18 minutes per game. I have seen her guard CC the most opposite her. I do believe she can slide into an assistant coach role next year to prepare new players or provide offseason programs. I don't see CC playing overseas after this season as she really doesn't need to and just rest her body. I do believe that if CC gets an offseason program planned for her growth and runned by Erica Wheeler CC can be an All-star if she hasn't been. I do believe she is a ROTY winner this year. I also don't think that too many players should be playing overseas too much since their schedule is packed with some just ending 1 month ago. Hopefully, the CC effect will continue to take hold and next year with the new CBA a longer schedule can be implemented, possibly aligning with the European league and teams schedule of inclusion into the Champions League similar to what Barcelona and Turkish league has.

I think the most important thing is that the players need to RUN the floor because Caitlin will be looking to drop some 3/4 floor dimes for easy lay ups like Iowa was so great at. If the players arent hustling down the floor, or if they are hustling down the floor but NOT paying attention its going to frustrate Caitlin and all of the fans!

As a CC fan to any other CC fan out there - remember to give this group grace, give all the rookies grace. We all expect to see the best of the best, but they are still learning and it WILL take time to get to that point. Go Fever!!

No, Kelsey Mitchell can play the 2, if healthy don’t trade her. Remember, CC had a lot of shooters, Martin, Marshall, Czinano, then Hannah Stuelke down low, CC can pass it anywhere with astounding zip. Sometimes one handed Larry Bird type passes, zip line straight to her teammate or bounce pass. I just hope she relaxes and finds her shot, I know straight up she does not want to be known as an assist PG only. JP
