Does anyone think jarace walker should be played at the 3? With his size and defense all he really needs is to shoot 35% from 3 and he would be good 🤷🏼‍♂️

He's shown at time's he can. Not only is his shooting an issue at time's. More so can he move his feet quick enough on Defense too. Not allow blow by's. Had they played him all 2nd half last season. They'd already know and could move on if not. The reason I liked Hendricks was because his position wasn't a question. He had a great shot and he was quicker/explosive on Defense.

That's where I d play Walker. I hope they play him more this year and develop him. I was excited to get him only to give him hardly any playing time. The Pacers actually have too deep of a bench. They should trade away some players to upgrade the starting lineup. Maybe matherin will make the jump this year, hopefully another jump from Haliburton or at least a return to how he played in the in season tournament time period.

Personally, ive always liked Obi Toppin. Hes not been on teams that his skill set fit in with before, but he showed so much growrh in one season with the Pacers. Its hard telling how high his ceiling actually is or how quickly he may ascend to it with the Pacers and a solid role in the lineup. I think 4 years/60 million may end up looking like a robbery as soon as by the end ofnthis next season, but im thinking certainly by mid season 3 out of 4.

How is it a championship lineup when 2 of the guys have yet to even hold a starting job for any significant amount of time? They are talented......but thats it. Mathurin doesnt fit very well with Hali in the back court, honestly. He can be a black hole at timrs. And as much as I like the idea of Jarace Walker, there is a reason he couldnt get on the floor last year despite the fact we desperately needed him to defend bigger wings. I wonder about his maturity level and motor.

Bridges going to NY, PG going to Philly, Boston is still good and Giannis will be back. It feels like we need more. I get why they arent able to at the moment. I just dont want to end up being the 2021 Hawks and not see the ECF again.

Mathurin is such an important player that i think people kind of overlook his skillset and athleticism. Frustrating really. Probably the closest player we had with similar skillset as oladipo. Pacers lucky to have him any other team he would have much more freedom. Whole team defense needs to improve but its just gonna have to come down to effort. And who is the leader for this team? Who gonna rally the troops when things get tough?

I wouldn’t mind if we traded for Cam Johnson. He would fit perfectly with Haliburton with his shooting ability and he has size at both forward positions.

Ugh. I love Obi but this just means our defense will still be mediocre next year. We can't win like that. We still need a wing/big that is a dog on defense and we don't have that yet.

Just made the conference finals and outplayed the eventual champions 3/4 games WITHOUT Mathurin and Tyrese. But yeah sure We can't win with Him. We get it. You don't think He can play defense. You literally say it in the comment section of every Pacer podcast every single time regardless of topic

@@daledilbeck9621 Furphy wasn't a name in my list because I have him taking roster spot 13. I'm suggesting that spot 14 or 15 might go to someone who we expect to get a two-way because there are four such guys and only three two-ways. Of course, one could just be cut and wind up on the Ants. I expect Newton and Freeman will come to camp on Exhibit 10 contracts to preserve our options this summer.

We know that Carisile has a hang up w/ Mathurian & Walker so, he should find some trade value for them. Hopefully the Pacers will consider playing Newton in year 2 bc his defensive resume is significantly more impressive than Sheppard/Nembhard, at the same point in time. The perimeter defense must improve.

What do you think his hang up is? For these players it seems clear it’s about making good reads and quick decisions that are best for the team and good defense. Not a bad hang up. It’s a demand so the team really is optimized.

Obi would have gotten more on the open market. Obi was rated the 13 best free agent. Williams of the bulls got 5 years 90 million. Good deal for the pacers.

Skip steps? They arent taking any steps.....resiging players and not improving your weaknesses isnt taking steps. If they dont improve over last year, isnt that just.....regression? All theyve done is ensure Jarace Walker wont get any playing time barring injuries and that was one of the things they claimed was gonna improve the team. They still wont be able to defend or rebound. Not happy at all. We still arent a top 4 team in the East.

Signing FA’s doesn’t mean anything 😂. Denver stuck with their squad and ended up with a championship. The clippers sign every FA available and they can’t even make the conference finals. Signing the right FA’s is waaay more important. If the Knicks don’t work they will be in a full rebuild in 2 years because of the cap hell they put themselves in. They also have no draft picks for the foreseeable future. As a smaller market team we have to be smarter than that and patience is key. Giving PG or OG a max deal is ludicrous and we had so many guys under contract you have to move someone to add. Once the cap goes up we will be in shape to make a marquee move

@@daledilbeck9621Knicks are hard capped at the 1st apron that's not cap hell when you have 5+ players all under 30 under contract for the next 4 years. They can still move under that 1st apron by just rearranging pieces in the Mikal trade and they have some of the best contracts in the league. What exactly are you saying?

They didn’t give up their entire future if this wasn’t the team they were planning on running for the next few years. It’s the same notion that we would give up 3 picks for P without some assurance he would resign. It’s illogical at best

We are essentially hard capped right now and we are under the first apron because our owner isnt going over it for any reason lol We still have to resign Turner, McConnell, Nembhard and Mathurin. And we were a 6 seed in the east last year. If Mathurin or Walker doesnt turn into a star we are cooked for the next 4 years.

That money could have been better spent on acquiring Jonathan Kuminga or Hartenstein. Toppin is good but the pacers need in the Center Position nor in a starter role. With this signing Walker will be pushed to play the 3 and I feel that would take a lot of time before that comes into a successful project.

We lucked out with injured teams. Make no mistake, we aren't a contender and we will never make the moves to be a contender. Just look at this off-season. The east got better, we stayed the same. Turner gas to go. He gets bullied by everyone. Who cares about his 2 blocks and 3-4 3 pointers a game. His 5 or 6 rebs and terrible low post defense aint it.

@@byt865 I'm holding off on calling him a superstar. He is to passive. He shows potential to be a superstar time to time....but how long do you wait to be contenders? Do we assume there will be a ton of internal growth to the point of contention? How many years from now? Will he grow impatient like PG? A franchise fan only be so patient in today's NBA. The players have the power and of you don't show them you are willing to do what it takes to win, they will go somewhere to have a chance to win. Indiana isn't exactly somewhere rich young people want to live. There has to be some kind of bigger move than resigning your guys and signing some end of the bench min cat.

@@TheCgehlhausen4they made their big move at the deadline. We signed one of the biggest FAs available in Pascal. We are setup to be big time buyers at the deadline this year as well. Relax homie because Rome wasn’t built in a day. We are supposed to be rebuilding but instead we are contending. You must have not watched the Celtics series if you don’t think we’re competitive/contenders.
