@@sheryali165well you should educate yourself before uttering shit Tejas is being used in the iaf and the mark 2 is also in work which is going to be 4.5 gen for the Navy and airforce,AMCA's design is ready mark 1 which will be 5.5 gen and not 5th gen will soon be ready and the mark 2 will be 6th gen and 2030 should be nice year for mark 1

I am looking for freezing phase of the design for past 10 years and even now am not sure it’s a freeze yet. Electronics are a challenge for India like radar, EW and data communication. This is where investment pays off for commercial as well as military.

Afsos, Atomic aur space technology mein hamen kisi ne sath nahin mila, Sara kuchh humne khud develop kia. 4.5 yrs 7 yrs !? Tab tak technology Kahan Se Kahan Chali jayegi , Humne 65 ki Jung Shaber jet ke khilaf , aur 71 ki f16 ke khilaf lari, aage bhi lad lenge. Main yah chapter close karta hun.

We did get helps and technology knowhow in atomic and space tech from France, Canada, Russia. But, yeah those were 50-70 years ago, and we just got the ground up, everything we built up since then, we did it ourselves.

I was hearing about AMCA when i was 18 now I am 28.. And still their into designs only.. I am an admirer of this of govt but its a massive failure in terms of acquiring fighter aircrafts as we are still relying old jaguars, m 2000.. Regarding Rafale... Atleast we should have gone for 126 aircrafts not just 36

New date for amca has been announced. first prototype amca (-4.125 generation) will be attempted on year 2004000 after that in few billion years the prototype design will be mature enough to be manufactured. And if everything goes well we might have a working prototype just in time to celebrate the death of Sun.

I swear if private defence companies would have had as much research and devlopment capabilities as DRDO and HAL then we would alredy have a 5th gen fighter (look at lockheed Martin they employ 60,000 engineers and scientists while drdo as a whole employess only 30,000 people not even scientists) Most of big countries like russia china uk usa have alredy started working on 6th gen fighters

Funny how you missed out that Lockheeds expenditure is around 60billionUSD/year against DRDOs budget of 3 billion dollar for it's 50 labs. Lockheed alone spend 20 times of DRDO, majority on R&D than whole bunch of DRDO labs together. It's like not giving a tree water and expect it to grow up like your neighbours tree who is watering and providing it properly just because the 2 are of same species. Regarding private players they are in the field for more than 20 years, how many indigenous product they have rolled out? Yah .. apart from some small/medium scale innovative company like for example Tonbo, they are here to only licensed produce "indigenous" stuff but not ready to sunk money in R&D .

I have the utmost respect for our armed forces but I am a very concerned about the preparedness of IAF, they seem to be very complacent, the balakot incident was a huge loss of face for the IAF, according to neutral sources we failed to hit our intended targets, failed to detect and intercept pak jets, lost a mig 21 and pilot captured, and worst part is 6 officers lost their lives in firendly fire, This is not about pilitics or chest beating and saying we are great, we need to be critical of ourselves, I want the IAF to be the best in the world, this cannot happen if we do not get out of the comfort zone of our narratives, same goes for the army as well sending soldiers to fight in a gypsy for frontline ops, There are serious question that need to be asked about the battle readiness of our armed forces.

Pak army was using f16 fighter aircraft that had advantage over mig 21 but still we did f16 down. After that our govt. woke up and started to purchase rafale 4.5.gen fighter aircraft. After series of corruption in congress govt.(Bofors , Augusta Westland etc.), many govt. were afraid to sign any defence deal fearing of corruption allegations. As you would have seen during rafale deal, congress was putting allegations on central government. Now AMCA is very important for us as a 5th generation fighter aircraft bcz Pakistan has done a deal with China to get 5th generation j20 aircraft. Biggest problem we are facing of aircraft engines that we still don't have even after 60 yrs. Govt. has signed an agreement for Transfer of technology of GE -414 engines with the USA (80% or above) . Meanwhile we can think about to purchase some 5th generation aircraft.

I believe we should now hold a public vote to start setting a deadline for Govt projects ...as we are seeing delays are costing us while they get their salaries well. Opportunity cost must be linked to their salaries and if the project went to delay certain percentage must be cut from their salaries. If that isn't enough their personal properties must be sold off.

Just hear what the armchair former air-chief staff blabs away hardly making any sense. Consider the following: The F-22, F-35, J 20 and the Su-57 operate engines in thrust class ranging from 157 kN to 191 kN with US engines having a max diameter of 117 cm and the Russians at 128 cm. The Chinese and the Russian fighters are 23 and 22 meters in length. The AMCA is 17.6 meters in length with proposed F414 engine with max diameter at 89 cm and max thrust at 98kN. (no wonder it is called ‘medium’ but why would you design a ‘medium’ aircraft in any sense of the word when your aim is a 5th generation fighter?) India is going to make a grave mistake going for such a 'limited design' (power and size) when for the same amount of effort, it can have a more useful plane in the longer run with an eye to the future.
