@yitzhak rafaeli shekkelsteingoldmanberg Yeah, but Indo-european also held other territories before they mostly have been assimilated, expelled or killed by other cultures and people. Like the Ancient Greeks that also lived in the Levant or that lived in northern africa. The Vandals that lived in parts of Modern day Tunesia and Algeria, the Hittites in Anatolia, the Scynthians in Central Asia. I personally think the Yuezhi are very interesting, they spoke Tocharians and the approximate borders of the Yuezhi Empire reached from Central Kazakhstan in the west to the modern chinese province of Hebei in the east, in the north from Krasnoyarsk in Siberia down to the Yellow River in the south.

@@Jericho101 yes sanskrit is the oldest indo aryan language, but sanskrit was divided into different prakrits, the corrupted version of sanskrit, such as magahi prakrit and sausarani prakrit, and languages like odia, bengali, hindi, awadhi, gujrati, etc has been derived from different forms of prakrit. As sanskrit didn't flourished in modern India, hence odia is considered as the oldest indo aryan language.

Small nitpicking: the Dardic languages are not the same as the Nuristani family. The Dardic languages are Indo-Aryan and are directly derived from Sanskrit (there is no feature which was absent in Sanskrit but is present in Dardic). These Dardic languages are derived from the spoken variety of Rigvedic Sanskrit. The Nuristani family on the other hand is a third subgroup within the Indo-Iranian family.

I thank you so much for presenting us this nice overview on Indo-European languages. I enjoy learning foreign languages. My native language is German. I have learned Russian and English and some French at school, a bit of Spanish at peoples high-shool, and I begun learning Arabic a few months ago. The Arabic alphabet has 29 figures, and each letter / apart from the few isolated standing, each letter has 3 versions to be written, depending on its position in a word, if at the begginning, mid or word ending. Not so easy to distinguish , not for a beginner like me, you understand. I understand some Dutch , I do not speak it but I understand it from context. Many words are similar to German and English words. When you understand English and German you may understand a little bit of Dutch as well even if you've never learned it " on-side". When you understand Spanish you may understand some Portuguese and Italian languages , and vice-versa. Russian-Ukrainian, Czech-Slovak, Danish-Norwegian. Well, that's my prologue. Dear mate, your video is really very informative, interesting, nice pics of cute girls, nice background sound, very nice at all. But please allow me to propose some additional facts. The languages you have listed are not 100% complete. Please have a look what I mean, what I missed : Slavic languages : Montenegrin ( spoken in Montenegro, former autonomous republic of Yugoslavia ) Bosnian ( spoken in Bosnia mainly, but after the civil war on Balkan peninsula many refugees escaped and spread over Europe, so their language should be worth mentioning) Romanic languages : what about Rhaeto-Romance/Romansh. This language is 1 out of the 4 official languages in Switzerland ( German , French,Italian and Rhaeto-Romanic) Well, considering Switzerland. They speak "standard German" in official and puplic branches. But actually the majority of German speaking Swiss population speak the so called "Switzerdütsch - Swiss German". That's so different from standard German , so it must be considered as to be a language of her own. To emphazize what I mean : I speak standard German, I live in Central Germany just a stones throw south of Berlin. Perhaps I have a regional, local dialect, but that doesn't matter, that carries no weight. Matter of fact is that I understand English much better than Swiss-German. I'm not kidding !!! I mean, Swiss-German should be mentioned . Greek! This language doesn't appear at all. Why not ? Greece and the language is a very important part of entire European history and European culture. Alhough, Greek language is not comparable, not related to any other language else in Europe. Greek is a single language ,a branche of itself without any sub-branches. Only Greek itself. But absolutely worth mentioning. Maltese ( spoken on Malta island) : is the only non Indo-European language in entire Europe. It's based on Arabic and so far it belongs to the Semitic family of languages. Well mate, I hope my proposition was not meant to be a bad critic in your eyes. No, really not. Just to add some facts which I mean are worth mentioning. You made a good job, I have enjoyed your video and have described your channel. Best regards from Germany, Rainer ps : forgive me my mistakes, my English is not perfect. But I do my best. Stay healthy.

Anatolia once held many IE peoples (imo they migrated into the area in continuous waves at different times). The Hittites, Phrygians, Carians, Cimmerians, Hurrians, Lydians, Galatians (Celts) & others were all IE speaking peoples that established themselves there. There were more branches in the past which are now extinct: Thraco-Dacian and Ilyrian, which are equally related in distance to Italo-Celtic and Helleno-Armenian (Albanian is a descendant of Illyrian so it's not actually extinct) Tartesso-Lusitanian (sister language to Proto-Celtic), Cimmerian and East Scythian (both are Indo-Iranian but the specific direct ancestral group is undetermined). It's foolish to group the Hellenic with the Armenian, this comes from a pre-1950s notion that Armenians were a byproduct of Alexander, and the language was a sister to mainland Greek. However, this couldn't be more further from the truth that it already is... Armenian is actually closer phonetically to Ancient Anatolian languages such as Hurrian and Hattic and Urartian, than it is Hellenic. There is a reason Armenian is an isolated branch within the Indo-European family, it has no connection to the other languages. Modern studies have found that 90% of the discovered Urartian lexicon are found present within the Armenian language, and almost none in any other language.

@ArthaxtaDaVince777 3 жыл бұрын
@@elimalinsky7069 Once again, I will repeat myself, Hellenic and Armenian have no relation, I'm Armenian, I would know if there was such. The connection you're making is a notion from over 50 years ago... Historical knowledge has progressed much further past 1950s... Keep up with the times. Armenian has no linguistic or phonetic connection to Greek. The Steppe theory has no merit, the Yamnaya shared more ancient Armenian blood than anything else, therefore the likelihood of IE coming from the north of the black sea is impossible. The gene flow moved out of Armenia, not into Armenia, as recent genetic studies show 4500 years of genetic continuity within Armenians. While the Yamnaya were mixed, and only had 48-58% genetic affinity with ancient Armenians. The fact that Urartian was not Indo-European means absolutely nothing. During the kingdom of Urartu, there existed two languages in the region, one Armenian and one Urartian. Genetic testing shows that they were ethnically, one in the same, in phenotype, haplogroup and all, "Urartu" was merely a Semitic rendition of "Ayrarat." Like I said previously, most of the Urartian lexicon is present within the Armenian language, making Armenian phonetically closer to Urartian than to Greek. Words such as "Kapuyt" (blue), "Arciv" (eagle), etc. Greek has influenced Armenian with loanwords, such as "Kristos" (christ), "Krokodilos" (Crocodile) but to suggest that Greek has any further connection than that is highly ignorant. You can group Romance languages together, their similarity and distinction is easily identified. But there is ZERO connection of the sort between Armenian and Greek. I don't know whats with you westerners and your desperate attempt of connecting Armenian to Greek, even to a point of thinking it's a sister tongue... I mean its laughable... It's like grouping Persian with Greek and considering them a sub branch of IE. Look up videos of Hittite, that's how Armenian sounds, not Greek. If anything, Armenian is closer to Anatolian languages than Greek.

***** It's the same issue here on the other side of the Eurasian steppes -- most Korean nationalists seem to believe that they are related to other Altaic speaking people based purely on the fact that their language is agglutinative and follows a Subject-Object-Verb word order. Most of them failed to recognize the fact that the vast majority of the world's languages such as Hindi (Indo-European) and Burmese (Sino-Tibetan) follow the Subject-Object-Verb order -- it just so happens that some of the world's most widely spoken languages such as English (Indo-European) and Mandarin (Sino-Tibetan) follow the Subject-Verb-Object word order. Most languages across the globe are also agglutinative with the notable exception of Chinese which is an analytic language. There's nothing to be surprised about that Korean is an agglutinative language. Most of them also seem to ignore that the United Nations Organization for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) clearly states that the Korean language is an isolate language -- and the world's most widely spoken one at that (~75 million). In terms of genetic ancestry, most Korean males (~40%) carry the paternal lineage of Haplogroup O2b-M176 which is the sibling haplogroup of O2a-M95 found amongst Austro-Asiatic speakers of Southeast Asia and is the pre-mutated form of Haplogroup O2b1-M47z found amongst the Japanese. Another 35% of their genome is made up of various branches of Haplogroup O3 - none of these are actually related to these so-called "Altaic" nomads. Han Chinese males for example carry the paternal lineage of Haplogroup O3a2c1a-M117, a mutated variant of Haplogroup O3a2c1-M144 carried by Tibeto-Burman speakers all across the Himalayas, Tibet, Northeast India, Bhutan, Nepal, Gilgit-Baltistan, Ladakh, Sikkim-Darjeeling and Upper Burma (Myanmar); this is also clearly reflected in terms of the language they speak. All Chinese dialects & languages belong to the Sinitic branch of the Sino-Tibetan language family which diverged from the rest of the Tibeto-Burman speaking branch some 8,000 years ago. Altaic speaking people on the other hand such as the Kazakhs and the Mongols carry more than 40% of Haplogroup C3, something that is completely absent amongst the Japanese and found in only 7-12% of Korean / Han Chinese males. Haplogroup O2b-M176 which is the main marker of Korean males is very limited to the Korean Peninsula and the Japanese Archipelago although small amounts of O2b-M176 have been detected in Vietnam and Indonesia. It is completely absent amongst the Han Chinese and other Altaic speakers. Likewise, most modern-day Turkish males carry a smattering of haplogroups such as Haplogroup J, R and I -- all of which are either Middle Eastern / Afro-Asiatic / Semitic or European and Mediterranean in origin. They merely speak an Altaic language due to influence from people who have conquered Turkey despite the fact that they are not genetically Altaic to begin with. These supposedly "Altaic" people come onto the internet and they are the loudest bunch of nationalists. Just imagine how ridiculous it would be for pan-Indo-European or pan-Sino-Tibetan groups to arise across the internet - and by then, the "Altaic" speaking people will only be on the losing end since there are easily more than 1.6 billion native speakers of Indo-European and Sino-Tibetan languages each (Just think of China & India alone).

YummYakitori Your numbers are a bit off. Taking the mean of all published data regarding the Y-DNA of modern Koreans, approximately 40% of them belong to subclades of O3-M122, and only about 30% of them belong to subclades of O2b-M176. As for the modern Japanese, about 30% of them belong to subclades of O2b-M176 (there is no significant difference in frequency between the Japanese and the Koreans regarding O2b-M176 as a whole, although the branches of this clade that are frequent in Japan are different from the branches of this clade that are frequent in Korea). Only about 15%~20% of the modern Japanese belong to subclades of O3-M122. As for the modern (Han) Chinese, about 55% of them belong to subclades of O3-M122. However, O2b-M176, to which about 30% of Japanese or Koreans belong, has been found only sporadically among Han Chinese; probably less than 1% of modern Han Chinese carry Y-chromosomes that belong to haplogroup O2b-M176. Furthermore, the date of the split between O2a and O2b is very ancient (approx. 30,000 years before present), and members of these haplogroups are only marginally more closely related (patrilineally) to each other than they are related to any member of O1a-M119 or O3-M122. In other words, although it is now known that the branching order of subclades of O-M175 is (O3-M122 + [O1a-M119 + {O2a-K18 + O2b-M176}]), each of these four subclades (O3-M122, O1a-M119, O2a-K18, and O2b-M176) should practically be considered as its own haplogroup; members of the most closely related subset (O2a + O2b) are only about 4,000 years more closely related to one another than any of them is related to any member of the most distant subset (O3). The MRCA of O2a + O2b should have lived approximately 30,000 YBP, and the MRCA of O1, O2, and O3 (i.e. all extant O-M175) should have lived approximately 34,000 YBP.

It is claimed tribes of Armenians did indeed return with the Phrygians back to our Armenian Highlands and our languages also share a common ancestory
