Indonesian street food in West Sumatra, Indonesia - In this video, I will take you to a weekly traditional village Minang market to try some local delicacies, chat with the locals and then we'll go to the nearby city of Pariaman to taste some incredibly delicious seafood.
Our Indonesian street food tour in West Sumatra starts at the local village market happening every Saturday. We immediately started with fireworks by finding a minivan full of locally sourced Durian. You will see how they treated me in the village.
After that, we entered the market and we found a lot of traditional Minang street food such as Ketupat Gulai, Bubur Kampiun, Es Cendol, cakes and the unique Sate Pariaman.
This Indonesian street food adventure was incredible and will forever be in my heart as the people treated me with so much warmth and love.
Our Indonesian street food tour in West Sumatra continues and we went to Pariaman for a massive seafood feast. We tried squid, prawns, anchovies, their famous Gulai Kepala Ikan and much more. I was blown away by the freshness of the seafood and the hospitality of the staff.

In ramadhan you should make video visiting bazar ramadhan. You would find all foods there. Bazar ramadhan is one of the most waited moment in whole years by any religions here in indonesia, & all the islamic county as well. When I was a kid my dad sometimes bring me to this Saturday village market (Kampung Dalam, Pariaman. West Sumatera). Miss this village market. The vibes of this market almost similar with a market I visited near Palermo in your country. People are friendly. Ciao amico! Mi piace il tuo paese. soprattutto la Sicilia ❤

There are two types of Padang cuisine in West Sumatra based on the region. In coastal areas, you will usually find Padang food made from seafood, but the favorite is snapper fish head curry. In mountainous or highland and rural areas, you will find many dishes using meat protein as raw materials such as beef, buffalo, chicken, and sometimes duck.

It's Minang actually Padang is a city. He's in my village our family market "Kampung Dalam" the market is only once a week, Saturday indeed, the sellers mostly came from around Bukittinggi the high hills and Solok in the South of Padang city. Such a pity you didn't try the "LOTEK" from the deaf young lady where you sat eating Durian as her Lotek is the best in the area I often order it without Noodles just pure vegetables. They told me you were here around 10 AM while I was still sleeping just on the hill with lots of big trees behind the market, you should give a shout!
