The mom with the tofu and ginger: Indonesian fried rice do NOT use ginger at all, plus I understand tofu is a substitute for meat but we do not use that. Plus, egg is VERY common, if not to say a must.

Oh great. These “Indonesian mums” again. Including Jenny, the one who called palm sugar “gula melaka” and used shrimp paste in her rendang. 😑 Surprise, surprise, in this video she calls sweet soy sauce “kicap manis” just like a Malaysian/Singaporean would 🙄 Are you trying to tell me that you couldn’t find a single Indonesian lady in the whole UK and had to resort to using a woman who cooks Malaysian dishes and passes them off as Indonesian? I don’t think she even used _kecap manis_ in her _nasi goreng_ and that ingredient is what makes Indonesian nasi goreng “nasi goreng” 😭 She even says “bagus” about a dish, that is such an ang moh thing to do because they think “bagus” can be used for food as well, like “good” in English.

These imposters, and yes I am using that word, don't know how to pronounce the names of very commonly consumed dishes and don't have basic understanding of food presentation. Of course a sunny-side egg comes with the nasi goreng. it's called nasi goreng matasapi.

In Indonesia, you put the nasi goreng into a bowl to mold it and turn the bowl upside down into a plate. You put the fried egg on top. You have cucumbers and tomatoes on the side. It usually has a red colour because there's a chilli or tomato sauce. You need chicken and veggies like napa cabbage and maybe kangkong or water spinach. I'm not impressed.

I must express my uncertainty as to whether they hail from Indonesian origins or were ever graced with the privilege of being born on Indonesian soil. Permit me to elucidate on certain discrepancies in their discourse: 1. Never have I chanced upon nasi goreng embellished with: - tomato paste - ginger - peanut butter - lime 2. In every rendition of nasi goreng, an egg must undeniably be present. In the Indonesian realm, a procurement of nasi goreng bestows upon one the option of selecting either a sunny-side-up or an omelet. 3. Nasi goreng, by its very epithet of "fried rice," inherently boasts a modicum of greasiness. This is why numerous Indonesian street vendors complement this dish with pickled vegetables, such as carrots or cucumbers, eschewing the inclusion of lime. My musings lead me to believe that both the expositors and yourselves could benefit from a more discerning selection process in identifying the rightful arbiters of culinary authenticity

I’m really furious when the title of this video mentioned “Indonesian” mum, but none of this mom are Indonesians! Let me list the flaws: 1. What makes nasi goreng nasi goreng is Kecap manis. Sorry, it is what it is. 2. No one says “bagus” to compliment food. 3. The R is Goreng should be trilled by tongue, not rolled like in English. 4. I never saw nasi goreng with a lime though, looks like Thai fried rice. 5. There’s always an egg in fried rice Advice for the team, if you can’t find real Indonesian mum, just make the title as “fried rice by Asian mum, and it will solve all the issues mentioned.

I can understand the sentiments of being frustrated and annoyed by not having even one authentic Indonesian nasi goreng served here, but I'm really surprised at people actually being downright rude. The 'nasi goreng' are done by UK citizens. Surely this would be a tacit understanding that true local Indonesian authenticity would probably not be found and highly influenced by generic Asian cooking styles. Prior videos by Chinese mums had already shown that authentic cuisine isn't a thing. The Chinese mums try each other Chow Mein video had one mum's dish serving sweet potato noodles with Vietnamese meatloaf. That's certainly not typical Chinese noodles and certainly not a Chinese sausage. Chinese mums try each others' fried rice: Salmon fried rice with seaweed isn't Chinese style but Japanese. These titles were not Chinese Mums try each other *Chinese* Fried rice or *Chinese* Chow Mein, and this video's title isn't Indonesian Mums try each other *Indonesian* Nasi Goreng either. The amount of vitriol for not being Indonesian enough is wild. If a Malaysian mum served up Indonesian style nasi goreng, should I expect the same level of malice?

Aside from their looks, these are not Indonesians by the way they're spelling "nasi goreng". You think your audience are just the westerners so you can easily trick them by putting fake Indonesians, eh? 😂
