Indonesian National Anthem, Canadian Violinist Reaction

Since it's National Music Day (March 9th), I check out the Indonesian National Anthem. The composer, Wage Rudolf Supratman, was a violinist too!
Sejak Hari Musik Nasional (9 Maret), saya nonton Lagu Kebangsaan Indonesia. Komposernya, Wage Rudolf Supratman, juga seorang pemain biola!

FYI, Indonesia Raya National Anthem have 3 Stansa based on the history of Wage Rudolph Supratman arrangement. Try to search this history, and also you'll find some musical notes arrangement to play it in any musical instrument. But, if you want to play this National Anthem with your cello/violin, it maybe you are closer to Wage Rudolph Supratman, because he arranged this National Anthem with cello/violin. If i'm not wrong, Wage Rudolph Supratman was a Violinist, the same Violinist like you Mike...

As information you should know, for many years, all Indonesian students of elementary school, of junior high school and of senior high school have been introduced to Jos Cleber's version of "Indonesia Raya", and not the W.R. Soepratman's original version. President Soekarno in 1950s asked Jos Cleber, a Dutch musician, to make music arrangements to "Indonesia Raya" so as to make the national anthem be heard like that which we can hear today. This is what Wikipedia says: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jozef_Cleber#:~:text=Jozef%20%22Jos%22%20Cleber%20(Dutch,composer%2C%20arranger%2C%20and%20producer. Jozef Cleber has also changed some notes found in "Indonesia Raya" so that we can sing it easier today if compared to the original version of W.R. Soepratman.

Germany: Sings about how great German is British: Sings about prayer to their Queen America: Never surrender , hope and democracy Russia: how great and glory is in history Indonesia: About the welfare of their people, their leader, fields, and proud to be an Indonesian. Giving Alip good credit is necessary as it reflects on his performance. However, making people more knowledgeable through analytical comment is equally important. Always support you.

The creator of this anthem (WR Soepratman) first played it using violin in front of the First (Indonesia) Youths Conference in 1928.

The anthem is not just a song ,but it has an history ......the anthem unites our diversed people into one ,which is very important during the battle against the Dutch and the British who were well armed .......

Maybe there is a slight correction, it was created in 1924 but was only sung for the first time in an official forum in 1928 at the 2nd youth congress or what is known as the "Sumpah Pemuda"

Hi Mike, I tried to post 3 times with links but it seems that they were removed. Anyway, I recommend to channels by Erwin Gutawa Production and by Addie M.S. These 2 are well known composer/producer in Indonesia who always bring full orchestra into their music. They are well produced and well received by musicians in Indonesia. Check their channel and they have severals songs that are very patriotic. I always highly recommend these 2 channels when trying to introduce Indonesian music specifically those who want to have quality and well produced. You will not disappoint with any of the songs in there.

@@SamuraiKidMusic I am glad that you like it. Maybe try to start with Rayuan Pulau Kelapa in Addie MS channel by Ismail Marzuki. This nostalgic song makes me cry everytime....... It is about love of our country.....
