Looks like an awesome vehicle! I’ve heard it’s coming to the USA, partly why the chose the BMW engines since they are more compliant world-wide than some of the other options that they looked at. The interior looks great! I love the big chunky dials and buttons. I don’t like the BMW shifter, it looks really out of place next to the “cue-ball” transfer case lever.

Really proper points you raised about this vehicle. It would make so much practical sense, if these manufacturers had any vision, they would have at the very least some input from everyday experienced people who use offroad vehicles.

I think INEOS will be looking at videos like yours and taking notes here, I cannot see them not taking onboad people's thoughts and ideas, if I was responsible for the production of the INEOS this is what I would be doing myself, I like what I see and appreciate the thought that has gone into the Grenadier, I just hope the pricing is right for it.

You nailed at the beginning - this is a G-wagen, not a Defender, but the basic body looks like a 110. Both the Defender and G have gone to higher margin, higher volume vehicles because there weren’t the sales for the basic originals, so this isn’t just chasing LR sales. I’ve seen it up close, and it’s good. Not too big. With the BMW engine the idea is you go to a BMW dealer for servicing. Even as a prototype it’s impressive.

For people who tow, or when driving in very hot temps, it would be very useful to have a transmission oil temp readout in the screen if one wants, without having to buy an aftermarket OBD2 reader.

This car is designed and built by the best off road builder in the world the Austrian/German company Steyr, they know very well how to build a 4X4. The engine BMW gearbox ZF and it is built by Steyr in an ex factory of Mercedes by German technicians and specialists! Steyr is also the builder of the G the best 4x4 on the market so the GRENADIER must be very good too!

Nice review! Regarding the gear lever, I once used a sock on my Land rover series 3 as I found the gear lever knob too hard. Customise if possible and put a sock on it and hide that ugly lever!

I have watched more reviews than the average bear, And I found your take to be more informative than Genadiers own marketing. good point about the sunroof cover as I live in a hot climate mine will come without with a luggage rack and solar panel. I really need to know if there will be a speedo and tacho behind the wheel.

I believe those moon roofs over the driver and passenger will actually be removable so one can stand and look ahead, e.g. for better viz in certain conditions. The switch gear was specifically designed to allow for easy (or easier) repair or replacement.

storage attachment locations up high look almost identical to in my Volvo XC60. They are the top anchor points for cargo barriers.

Something that wasnt mentioned is that the interior is waterproofed and built in a way that you can hose the inside of the car off, and has drainplugs inside to let the water out.

Looking more and more like a NA version will actually happen. If they can put it in the 55-75k range it will make big waves in my opinion.

Another thing besides the BMW shifter that looks a bit odd is that the rear cargo area wheel wells seem to be lopsided sided, the right one seems bigger than the left. Not sure what’s going on there…I believe the left side cargo area has a small cubby that’s accessible from the outside independent of the rear hatch doors, so maybe that’s affecting things visually? As far as the exterior, I’m also interested to see how the rooftop rails and side l-track mounts work. I haven’t seen anything yet to highlight those features, but I suspect they could have some unique roof top tent mounts available. I believe that the top of the vehicle doesn’t need a roof rack to support a load so a tent could potentially be mounted right to the vehicle without a rack. I’m also interested to see if the bumper comes with provisions for a winch, or if a different bumper will be needed. The bumper looks plastic, but maybe there’s a winch mount underneath it.

Does the drivers footwell seem tight?

Brent Smith, the Grenadier is not a SUV, it’s an off-road vehicle that will be the absolute best in that segment. Magna Steyr, who makes the Unimog, the G-wagon and lots of military stuff, builds it. Best not to doubt those guys without having seen the car, because it only shows how little you know about the vehicle. You’re not even sure about the total width or what off-road buttons do, but it’s not likely you know everything better than the hundreds of guys that thought out the systems in the vehicle. It’s just an annoying way of talking when you have nothing to say but have to say something.

I seems to be the only person who hates the interior. It looks like an 80"s computer. Also, who wants switches on the roof when needing to offload? We want controls that are easy to reach without taking our eyes off the track

Large fail with a BMW motor in outback Australia, no parts, no dealers, and you'd be waiting weeks for expensive parts. A 4x4 for the highways and cities.

They have avoided using leather to make the vehicle vegan friendly.

My only actual concern will be the drive train. BMW has gotten worse in its designs over the years, and the failure rate is too high for my liking.
