@@suzieq390 Hiding your finances from who is supposed to be your equal partner is manipulation, whether you have good intentions or not. If you know your partner doesn't handle finances well, you don't baby them and say "you don't ever have to face the Big Scary Thing", you help them work through those anxieties and try to manage them and be an adult, especially when it comes to money. Your relationship is filled with lies at that point. And when financial disputes and discrepancies are the number 1 reason people get divorced, and the divorce rate is over 50%, you need to re-think hiding purchases and lying about where money goes.

‘she can’t buy things she needs cause I bought something I don’t need’, wow! Maybe if you stopped being a kid and started growing up and being a man then you wouldn’t be in such debt! Spending on things you don’t need but you don’t have necessities is a recipe for disaster. You don’t need 2 tvs, you don’t need to keep buying games. There are ways to have fun gaming without constantly buying them when you don’t have the money. Buying on credit when you have ‘months free no interest and no payments’ ...... people end up forgetting about it and then they find out you have ALL of the interest added on unless you paid for it before the ‘free’ time ended. Just imagine buying a living room for $6000 only to forget the time limit and now it’s $9000. Don’t spend money you don’t have. The numbers don’t lie, when he said, “inaccurate, you can’t refute when cameras are rolling”? Geez bud, you just got dropped in it, now your wife knows just how much you spend every month. The numbers come from your bank account over a month and they are real. Get with it bud, she outed you!

Jared just hates that his wife is in charge of the money. Yes Jared you made this mess, up to you to earn extra money. Did she really have to ask to buy shampoo and hair spray? Should have been a red flag to her. She knew what was going on, but did not wan to face it. Reason she has to shop every night for groceries is because he spending all the money. what i've noticed from all these shows is that the monetary dysfunction is usually a symptom and not a cause of a very dysfunctional marriage which often will end in divorce. Financial problems are happening because your marriage already sucks and you don't communicate, don't have similar goals, and don't respect each other, don't care about your family unit prospering in the long run.

I don’t know if this couple ever got their act together, but I was the kind of wife who never know where we stood financially and had no interest in money beyond spending it. Big mistake! After 26 years of marriage hubby decided he wanted out to run off with a young girl. He’d been calling her with confidence for months because he knew I never looked at the phone bill (she had a different area code and this was 15 years ago when some homes still had landlines, including ours). Then I was blindsided by financial reality. We ended up divorced, I moved out of state to start a new life. Now I have no one’s financiers to worry about except my own-very liberating! I’ve learned to manage my money even with a low income and I’m surviving. I have a girlfriend who’s marriage broke up after 35 years because her husband was addicted to video games; it was like he was committing adultery except it was with a computer, he’d stay up all night playing games, drove her crazy. Poor financial management can ruin a marriage, both hubby and wife need to know what’s going on, even if one of them-Christina, for example-doesn’t want to know. An expensive lesson to learn.

Why is it sometimes the one who controls the money like this guy or Nicollette in another one, why do they always get upset when the blame is always solely on them? Like you’re the spender and you’re in control of 100% of the finances. Sometimes it’s EXCLUSIVELY ONE PERSONS FAULT

I know a lot of women like this - they are actually proud of not having a clue about their family finances and think there is something bad about me as I earn the majority of the money and handle all the bills. A lot of them haven't worked for forty years either. If their husbands die before them they are going to be in very big trouble. And as for asking permission for things she needs when she works - I have never heard the like.
