My brother brings yp a great point; we are a painfully young faith, and as such our tenets have yet to be codified into a cohesive unit. This has sadly allowed many things that are not of Jah to creep into the faith straight from Jamaican gangster culture. The honoring of garvey is another uniquely Jamaican tradition, despite garvey being a blasphemer and speaking ill of His Majesty. Garvey holds no place in Rastafari by my overstanding. It is a lack of a scripture of this age that allows men to claim as they wish being Rasta but only that which His Majesty has approved will remain in time. Jah love.

The same thing happen with the anarchist lifestyle. I,m 30 year old spanish, inspired by the anarchist philosophy (a also a lot by the rastafari knowledges) but im sometimes i feel very disagree with certain movements like for example punk movement, not the music. I love punk music cause the message againts the system, but I,m totally disagre with the idea that by destroying yourself taking drugs and having certain hairstyle and puting yourself an especiffic outfit mades you are anarchist. The livity is the only way and without discipline is impossible to carry out. I’m listening and smiling because Ethiopians have a different perspective on Selassie, yes he was about Order but as a dictator over his people. He also didn’t show love and compassion towards his countrymen and women and the little children that was dying of starvation due to famine, some Ethiopians even calls him the devil incarnate due to the cruelty their ancestors felt by his rule. So sad that in 2023 people still agrees with this sort of cruelty and worst seems to block it out as if it’s nothing.

Haile Selassie did say that he glory in the bible and and there is no salvation until man accept the bible with clear consciousness - I don’t understand how some rastas dem pretend to exclusively follow Haile Selassie but they only want to do their way and bad talk what HIM himself called His refuge ie the bible. The movement has lost itself when some rasta dem chose to burn the bible and reject any form of discipline that comes from it. it’s not that rasta is stuck on the bible, rasta might be stuck on a wrong understanding and interpretation of the bible but it’s just from a lack of knowledge, rigorous research and study and strict application of the bible guidelines and above all lack of spiritual guidance... lack of effort to learn hebrew and amharic and capture the true meaning behind the translated Word (that’s what the yt man did to write his own intended white washed bible translation that we are rely on nowadays) when we know a more accurate translation exist in Ethiopia thanks to HIM ! no ! that’s is to much effort for some rasta and yes indeed they stuck in IGNORANCE and narrow-minded behaviour and beliefs. cause it’s way easier to reject the bible than to humbly accept its discipline and renew yourself to match the level of righteousness of HIM.
