Thank you lone crow. I used to do a lot of winter mountain backpacking in my youth, i love the serenity of winter camping. Such things didn’t exist, a tent, thermarest matt, good sleeping bag, mid-wt fleece and i was good all night. Never got cold, never started a fire even for 5 day trips. But i’m amazed a 4lb source heat for warmth and cooking is available now, my peak one stove is rip.

Glad you’re back. No worries about taking a break but I really like your reviews. The animation on this one took extra time but it illustrates your points well. I also like that it’s obvious you have used your stove not just reviewed it for the purposes of a video. My hot tent set up is not lightweight but I think I want to make the investment next year. Happy hot tenting!!!
@LoneCrowAdventures
@LoneCrowAdventures 2 жыл бұрын
This honestly is one of the best investments I've made in both myself and the channel. My other stove is the Winnerwell Nomad, which is a great stove but made of 304 stainless steel and weighing a ton. Any time I wanted to hot tent I'd have to drag that big stove out and my big huge hot tent that takes 2x people to set up. This little stove and the baby hot tent you see in the video van both fit easily in my pack. I can get camp set up quickly so I can easily so over nighters now. Love the stove and the tent too.

Danchel Outdoor is also very good. I have been considering whether to buy a stainless steel folding stove or a titanium alloy folding stove. Both of them are very cost-effective, and the price is relatively cheap among all stove brands. However, I still chose the titanium alloy stove. It is really much better to use than other stoves I have used before, and it is very convenient to carry around, just a small backpack is enough, and it is not heavy. I've been using it for a long time and I haven't had any problems, it's really great! !

I really like the stove. I burned it hot the first two times and flipped the stone pipe upside down after the first burn so both ends of the pipe are tempered to curl the right way making it easier to roll the pipe into the correct shape.

Thanks for this tutorial. EFFICIENCY TIP: Make a small (say 2" OD) riveted Ti or stainless steel tube at the REAR end of the stove 3" from the bottom. This tube needs to extend from the back by 1" to 1 1/2" and connect using a hose clamp to a flexible metal or heat resistant fiberglasstube that goes under the bottom of the tent wall to the outside and then ABOVE the snow, supported by a Y shaped stick. WHY? because it brings cold combustion air from the OUTSIDE into the firebox, and not the warm air from your tent. Much more efficient. Now there's no need to open the draft slide on the front door!

Put the pipe on the inside unless you want to wake up to a smoky tent it seems counterintuitive. If you don't and you put creosote in that pipe and it starts to cool it runs down the pipe onto the top of the still hot stove and you have a tent full of smoke. If on the enside the crap runs ba k into the stove not on it, this is from experience.

4lbs is not light...That is a whopping 1814.3g, which is heavy for a Titanium hot tent stove...My Seek Outside Cub U-Turn is only 750g, and that is including a 7 1/2 foot stove pipe! That makes mine almost 2.4 lb or 1064.3g lighter that yours! And it packs down to about half the size, allowing it to fit inside my backpack and be taken anywhere. Unfortunately, Seek Outside have stupidly discontinued it, only selling bigger heavier versions now. I got mine used for only £120 (about $150), which was a real bargain.

Looks like way too much work. Just looking at them, I like the ones that are a box with fold down legs and actual stove pipe better. And they are only a hundred bucks.

This largely depends on whether you are basecamping in which case a solid stove is easier but much heavier and bulky. If you're backpacking or pulling on a sled a lighter compact version is preferred. Just depends what you're doing.
