Infected blood inquiry hears from former schoolboys infected with HIV

As schoolboys, they were taken into a room five at a time and told they had months to live. The boys of Treloar's College had been infected with HIV as part of their treatment for haemophilia.
They were some of the youngest victims of the infected blood scandal, the biggest medical disaster in NHS history. Of around 100 students affected, just 28 are still alive.
Today it was their turn to give evidence to a public inquiry which is seeking to find out how the tragedy could have been avoided. We went to meet them.

They haven't been compensated already?! how is this even possible? Ireland had a similar scandal, and all the victims were compensated. This is ridiculous. They deserve enough money to make the rest of their lives very very comfortable for what the NHS has put them through.

This is the logic of the NHS for you today 1, I take aspirin for a suspected stroke they “think” I had. 2, I was admitted to hospital with pancreatitis, where it was found that my blood clotting factor was off, due to the aspirin, so I was given a dose of vitamin K. I was to undergo a medical procedure to remove the gallstones which were causing the pancreatitis, so it was imperative to get my blood clotting factor back to normal. 3, Had to wait till I had improved to have the stones removed which took around 5 days. 4, The day before this procedure, given another massive dose of vitamin K, because the 1st lot didn’t work, blood clotting factor way off, as if I had never received the 1st dose of vitamin k. 5, Suddenly, I asked the doctor giving me the vitamin k, have you still been giving me the aspirin, which my GP has prescribed for me, for a stroke they “think” I had. After a little probing it came out neither the nurses, or the doctors had requested that my aspirin medication be put on hold, so I was still receiving aspirin, whilst the idiots were pumping me full of vitamin k. You couldn’t make it up, could you.

In tears just thinking about mere children walking around like Ghosts wondering when the bullet that hit them is going to kill them. =_( Just imagine living in that fear. Brave as they come these men. Living with a Death Sentence & being ignored to keep officials out of trouble. Truly shocking series of events.

My sympathies to Gary and Adrian, if you have both got it. Seriously have a long life. Also my serious sympathies to Steve Nicholls and Adrian Goodyear, if you have got it.
