“People Received Stigma” | Infected Blood Scandal Victim Speaks Out

For decades, victims and their bereaved families of the infected blood scandal have been seeking justice.
In the 1970s and 1980s, over 1,200 people were infected with HIV and other diseases during treatment for blood conditions such as haemophilia.
Victim and chairman of campaign group Tainted Blood, Andy Evans, said he became Infected with HIV and hepatitis C at the age of five through haemophilia treatment and went on to develop AIDS aged 16.
Andy’s parents weren’t told about the blunder until he was 10, and they didn't tell Andy until he was 13, when blood test results were showing the virus was starting to have an impact on his immune system.
Jeremy Kyle said he thought that the situation was on the same scale as the Post Office Horizon scandal.

Absolutley disgusting that this man and many others like him have been made sick and to feel like lepers through no fault of their own. The government and nhs have known for years about these infected blood products it's time for them to sort it out and acknowledge and recompense these people for their suffering including the families of the ones that didn't survive.

This happened in Canada too, with ppl who had transplants, in the 80s As far as I know , Canadians were paid out in the mid 90s? They knew in the early 80s already blood was tainted Why only now , in the uk are ppl now being compensated and this is coming out ?

The way these people were treated at the time was just absolutely evil. At that time in history anyone could have been put in this position, I sincerely hope this gentleman & others like him are leading the happiest of lives that they possibly can. The governments & people that are responsible for this should be held openly accountable & all of these people should receive the highest of care possible for free & should also be hugely financially compensated, not that money gives their lives back.🙏🤍🕊️🙏
