Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has apologised for his party's part in the scandal, telling the Commons: "I want to acknowledge to every single person who has suffered, that in addition to all of the other failings, politics itself failed you."

Saying sorry doesn't make it magically better but hearing both sides of the UK gov say sorry shows the peoeple affected that they were right all along. Their fight was true and just, they were lied to and killed in their thousands but this shows that they were right about everything.

This word is overused in English and isn't appropriate for the moment, I think. As a tourist, I have often heard this word, more than any other word in Britain because I'm very "gracious" and "well-mannered". Now so many people are suffering because of this terrible mistake. And "sorry"?
