Dairy farmer finds hogs destroying his crops, through thermal scope. Texas farmers fight this hog problem none stop.
Wild hogs are among the most destructive invasive species in the United States today. Two million to six million of the animals are wreaking havoc in at least 39 states and four Canadian provinces; half are in Texas, where they do some $400 million in damages annually.

I know from playing hours of Red Dead Redemption 2 that this guy is doing it all wrong. First, you get yourself a rifle like the Springfield Rifle and you look thru the scope and find yourself one w/ a 3-star pelt so that Pearson or the Trapper can make stuff w/ it. Then you use your dead eye to slow down time and make sure you're hitting it in the right spot for a one-shot kill. After killing it you ride over w/ your horse and press the triangle (or Y) button to start the skinning animation. After loading the skin on the back of your horse you take it back to camp or to the trapper or the butcher to sell it. Easy!

I'm sorry there has to be another means than destroying God's creatures. I am aware they are nuisance but what gives man the right to Kill just for sport. There has to be a more humane Way of dealing With this problem and protecting their land and properly.
@davidhandyman7571
@davidhandyman7571 Жыл бұрын
@@lindacarmon891 It is NOT just for sport. Feral pigs/hogs destroy so much that they are costing millions, if not billions of dollars of crops and livestock. They are omnivores which means they eat anything. There are so many that they can destroy a crop overnight. They will dig up and eat the seed the farmers have just sown within 24 hours. That is food from your table and doubling the cost of planting which includes the cost of fuel for machinery, time spent, cost of seed, and cost of repairing the damage to the land. They will kill and eat young and small animals including calves and lambs. Also, being feral, they are carriers of disease that can and is transmitted to other animals and to humans. Shooting is just one of a number of ways to control excessive numbers but is far better than indiscriminate poisoning. It is a huge problem. God gave us the authority and command to "have dominion" over creation. That is a bad translation of the original Hebrew. It has the meaning of caring for, tending and managing creation which includes controlling, in a positive way, the resources God gave us. I hope this is helpful. Blessings from Australia where we have a similar problem but not as bad.

well, tracking on the scope is not much use because it would not track the barrel. BUT = you can link it to PC runing YOLOv8 and python script and make a gimbal and then you can output the image from pulsar to the PC and train YOLO to recognize the hogs. Then you can add bit of code to adjust the lead for speed and distance (can be estimated by the size of the pigs - probably you would have to train the AI to differentiate between small and big ones) and that would be the main work done. I reckon I could have a prototype done in 2-3 months if I was in texas :D

If you want to have some fun set up a feeder or drop corn and then set up at close range. I killed 5 hogs a few weeks ago from the bed of my pickup at 25 yards with a suppressed .22 running subsonic ammo. It's so quiet the hogs do not run off and you will get multiple kills. Just make sure your POI is dialed in because you will have to place the shots in their ear canal to kill them with a 40 grain .22 round at subsonic speeds.

Just before this video played, KZfaq gave me a commercial, urging me to sign a petition to ban AR 15s. Wow. No practical usage in a civilized society they said…They want you to use a bolt action to do this kind of work. Nice shooting on moving targets btw!

There isn't anyone who says nobody needs them, just that everybody doesn't need access to them. U.S. simply needs system like in virtually all other Western countries, including UK, AU, DE, etc., where if a citizen needed a gun like this for certain purposes they can apply for a special permit. Either way, the current U.S. system has clearly failed its citizens, including children.

@@agnstdgrain so when the government goes full tyrant, will we still be able to get our guns? The second ammendment is there to make sure that we never become a country like China, or Venezuela, etc.

@@agnstdgrain Totally agree! Our system has repeatedly failed and will continue to fail our people and children. Until we get more guns in the hands of law abiding citizens and train them on how to neutralize threats, the safety of our defenseless citizens like children will continue to be compromised!

@@agnstdgrain The serfs in those countries don't have a Bill of rights guaranteeing them the right to bear arms, or they would have AR15's. Their just slaves, living in fear, because only the criminals have guns. Thanks to their leaders, who are protected by men with guns. USA.
