To add onto the love for Evil Dead, if you play the "stranger" character with chainsaw mode on, you now get to play a guy who is rocking a chainsaw in one hand and a shotgun in the other hand. It just feels so right.

H.P. Lovecraft created the idea of the necronomicon first. Also axecodor is a reference to Castlevania SOTN where they had a secret name generator character named AXELORD.

Thanks for that! I know I've heard it several place but I always think if Evil Dead first. That's a good catch on the Axcedor name. I love a good Axelord playthrough.

HP Lovecrafts Necromonicon was also based from an occultic book from the middle east, "The Gnostic Book of the Sun" and many other ancient literatures said to possess knowledge on how to communicate with the dead and demons.

Beat me to it. The Mad Arab is the one witnessed and took down in that book everything he had seen in Ry'lieh (Cthulhu and the other Elder Gods, city of Madness) and yep imagined by H.P. Lovecraft. Actually every horror, every critter in almost any game, horror genre are inspired by Lovecraft!

Not sure if it would apply but.. in the "submission" ending, my geek brain went "hold up, some old creepy dude asks you to bow to him and rule the world with him" then went "is that a Palpatine reference?" also if you go for true evil end you get to betray him (like Vader did to redeem himself before dying).

There's an instant coward's way out ending if you return to the ship after having faced the first monster ;) I think this game is awesome, following in the tracks of way forward and shovel knight dev teams!

YES! I remember getting that one. It's a fun ending. I love endings that end the game in >5 minutes.

Keith Courage gets some love from this game. When you upgrade your power health or mana, it plays a tune very similar to getting the Nova Suit in Keith Courage.

What could be another little nod is the protagonist's appareance, specially when it comes to cutscenes and his neutral dialogue facebox, and I think that, even if unintentional, he kind of looks like Sol Badguy, from the Guilty Gear Series, specifically Order Sol, since he has a more knight-like appareance. Sol is usually depicted as a "Hero because he's forced to more than because he wants" kind of guy, being rude and blunt. Plus, the reds, the brown spiky hair and also the red bandana... Again, it might be just a coincidence, but ey.

Also at 6:14, his dream is a reference to Excite Bike's victory screen. The future ending's screen where he rides the bike might also counted as Excite Bike's reference because of the jiggling bike.

@@MegaYoYo It is not a new ending, you will have a normal ending, but befor the ending finish a scene shows the creature still burning in the cage (the one you can burn or talk). It is a funny scene.
