Hey Ed, big fan of Amon Amarth here, and Under The Northern star is 1 of my favourites from them. Primarily i'm into melodic death/folk metal, and one band I think you should check out is Insomnium (from finland) who just signed with century records (along w/ dark tranquility, arch enemy, etc). They're basically a band with almost every song as epic as Under the Northern Star lol. They're not as brutal as Amon Amarth, but the music is amazing. Songs i'd suggest are Drawn To Black & Mortal Share

@natenate8484 I'm going to collect a bunch "FAB'S"....frequently asked bands. And make a good and bad list and drop it in a video. I just can't be answering all the 'what about this band' questions indeed. Suicide Silence has been asked for over a 100 times now.

@LifevsMusic I don't have to know all the different types as there are just to many forms of vocals. I even heard a name of 'pterodactyl vocals' i mean..gimme a break. I decide per band which vocals I do like and which I don't. But in most cases the highs are not my style, although I do like dark funeral and immortal vocals.

@LifevsMusic You should pay attention. I don't generalize high vocals, I just said that in every case of band I judge, but in deathcore in most cases!! are high vocals that annoy the crap out of me. And those vocals differ a lot from black metal vocals. Take any deathcore high vocal and compare that with the vocals from Immortal. World of difference.

@LifevsMusic I speak about deathcore because the high vocals that I do not like are mostly the ones of deathcore bands. This is not generalizing, just an observation. I listen to all bands people suggest to me because they want to know what I think of them, so I know a lot of bands. But even death metal bands can suck pretty bad.

@TheDarkHarverest Epica has a lot of good songs and a very good singer. José and I saw them live once. Very good band.

I would love to support all the artists I like by buying their work, downloaded or not. However, here in America it seems very hard to buy the work bands from outside of my country. So, if I want the music I sometimes have no choice. It makes me mad that what I can or cannot buy is determined by American record companies and what they choose to carry. I liked the second one as well.

whats your opinion on the big 4 of thrash metal? i mean do you think that metallica, megadeth, anthrax, and slayer deserve to be known as the big 4 or do you think there should be a different band in place of one of these?

I agree with you that suicide silence vocals aren't very good, at least in my opinion. However, I don't completely agree that all high vocals are bad or un-manly or what-have-you. If you listen to Bloodbath (which I sincerely hope you do, they're amazing), you'll hear that the vocals are predominately low or in the mid to low range. However, sometimes higher vocals are applied for accent, or for gang vocals (which sound brutal). I think if used correctly, high vocals are excellent. Thoughts?

i love chucks vocals, in a way the raspy vocals really define death and it goes perfect with the music

I think downloading things can depend on your situation. I myself have downloaded gigabytes upon gigabytes of music over the years, because CDs were just too expensive. Now that I am graduated and have a very well paying job, I've started trying to collect at the very minimum my favorite CD from each of the bands I listen to. So I can say now "down with downloading" but at the time that's all I had.

@RB8JASON I don't see why not. I like old rock too ( stones, golden earing, eagles etc ) I could listen to a song of that and listen to Cannibal Corpse right after it. As long as you think it's good music, than that's all that matters.

Well.. i have to say something now too :D many deathcore bands have highs.. but many like despised ! But.. rather get a mixture .. like metalcore.. august burns red or winds of plague.. good guitar solos too.. sometimes.. breakdowns can be a pain in the ass but .. many deathmetal songs.. start with 100% speed.. and end with 100% i know exact how the song ends since the beginning.. so.. some breakdowns can be also cool :)
