I think this movie is a metaphor about depression. Depression is a infinite storm that consumes Us little by little. Others that know you and see you smile or having fun they may think you're doing ok, but it never go away.
@hanshandkante5055 Жыл бұрын
OR this movie is just about some people trying to get down from a mountain and survive in the freezing cold. It is based on a TRUE STORY, its the story of a women named Pam Bale. Not everything is a god damn metaphor and this urge to see metaphors in literally everything is getting ridiculous. Just recently someone wanted to tell me that "The Banshees Of Inisherin" is a metaphor for the irish civil war of 1923 even though the plot and the war don't have anything in common. Sometimes a lighthouse or a watchtower might be just that and not a phallic symbol. Also depression is not an infinite storm imho - it's quite the opposite. An infinite storm would mean that you are constantly overwhelmed but depression means basically that you are constantly underwhelmed. Depression is more like wandering in an endless wasteland and nothing ever changes no matter in wich direction and how far you walk. After a while every day feels the same and everything including yourself feels useless.

@@earthangel8730 Thank you for sharing. I'm sorry you struggle with PTSD, I do as well and its not easy. Lately group therapy has helped quell the panic. Best wishes on your road to recovery. My statement was in reference to the true story and presumably the plot of the movie. That this man, who was committed to ending his l*fe, still valued it's impact on those around him... so he did everything in his power to die without being a burden to anyone and yet, fate found a way to defy his choice by dropping this stranger upon his path. As a result he went on to live life once again. Proof that his rescue was purposeful. I agree that we have bodily autonomy and should ultimately be granted the right to call it quits on our own terms in our own time, if necessary. But it's much easier said than done. Death isn't always practical and it's cruel to think that an abuser would bargain with their own life in order to torment their victim one everlasting time. It's why I said, I pray we continue to find strength in survival... because to live doesn't mean you're healed, healthy, or alive.

For me, the infinate storm is the ongoing grieving process after the death of an immense loved one. A few days before my little brother died I told him to put his hand on my left shoulder at the funeral so I would know he was there too. He was a bass player and later during the service, the singing girl from his band stood up, came over to me from the other side of the little hall, sat down behind me and silently put her comforting hand on my left shoulder. What they oughta do is a movie about Donn Fendler; he was lost on Mt Katahdin for 8 days back in the 30s when he was 12. Pretty incredible story (there's a youtube movie but I'm surprised it was never done on a larger scale). But film it on Katahdin...it's an impressive and intimidating mountain in northern Maine. The peak is a terminus of the Appalachian Trail and exactly one mile above sea level.
