Sonic games have a lot of myths in them, like for example. You can push back the bus that chases you in city escape. And were going to be busting even more Sonic myths to see if there true or false.
Myths and rumors like do all of the characters move at the same speed or is Sonic the hedgehog the fastest character. Can you get on top of the buildings in speed highway? Is there a Secret Level select screen in Sonic 3D Blast that you access by hitting the cartridge. We'll also look at myths from Tails, Knuckles and Amy. And the Myths will get more crazy as the video goes on.

I'm surprised that no one said this (at least from what I see) The thing with the Sonic 3 Data Select music is a glitch that after 47 minutes and some seconds makes one specific instrument in the track much, much louder than it is at first. It's not a new or extra track, it's the same exact track with one instrument made way louder.

fun fact: through the input of a certain combination of buttons on the no way screen you can play the blue spheres game, which is basically over millions of randomly generated versions of the sonic 3 and knuckles special stages

Another fact about Genocide City Zone: It was called Genocide City zone due to a mistranslation between SEGA of America and SEGA of Japan. Japan at the time didn’t have their own version of the word “genocide” in their language and just thought the word sounded cool. Once they eventually realized what it actually meant, they changed the name of the zone to Cyber City Zone, which of course would be scrapped mid-development.

According to sonic 2 level designer Tom Payne, the name “Genocide city” being chosen was due to the development team’s “Not quite complete grasp of the English language.” During an interview waits Payne, he went on to say that the team “may have been looking for a name that sounded dangerous,” which resulted in the name of the zone.

13:08 fun fact about genocide city zone. It was supposed to be a 1 act zone but when it was cancelled it was turned into metropolis act 3 so that’s why metropolis has 3 acts

Sonic 1 uses a different color palette than other 2D Sonic Games. That's why Sonic & Knuckles don't work with that game.

About that "No way!" error screen for locking-on Sonic & Knuckles onto an incompatible cart like Sonic 1: There's actually a hidden minigame there if you, I think, press all the facebuttons of the Genesis/Megadrive controller (been awhile since I've checked the correct inputs). If you do, you can play the Blue Sphere Special Zone minigame from Sonic & Knuckles, and there's FAR more levels of it beyond what the game it comes from lets you play. So many infact, you're likely not be able to play them all in one sitting. Even if you skip eating anything. This secret minigame on that error screen was so well-known, that in some Sonic collection compilation games, it was added to the game selection screen

Although the Myth that you can play as knuckles in Sonic 1 Clearly Isn't true, there is still a secret game that you can play. It is accessed on the No Way! Screen. On the screen, if you press A, B, And C at the same time, the No Way! text will cange to Get Blue Spheres! and there will be a code thing and a start option. each code has it's own unique special stage apart from a few codes. This Secret Game is Called Blue Sphere.

Sonic 3, the knuckles bridge scene, if you wait till the capsule is as low as it goes and as right as it goes, you can do that trick to avoid falling, jump on top of the capsule then jump over the invisible wall blocking knuckles off and just... Hang out with him... Completely useless but I don't think it's a widely known thing. Funnily enough they removed this from the sonic origins version

The funny thing is: the joke about point'n'click game was based of the real one, that got cancelled. It was in the SatAM/Archie universe. However, it's assets were reused in Sonic Spinball.

A bit of misinfo about Mr. Needlemouse. While everyone attributes Yuji Naka as being the creator of sonic (in the same way that Walt Disney is often miscredited as being the sole creator of Oswald and Mickey) it was actually Naoto Oshima who designed Sonic the Hedgehog. Yuji Naka simply had the idea for a fast running anthro character which led to Naoto Oshima sketching out a few conceptual designs on a napkin.

To set the record straight about SA3. Much like how development for SA2 started soon after SA1 being released, SA3 was to enter development after SA2 being released. HOWEVER; given Sega Enterprises' dire financial situation and the dwindling amount of team personnel remaining, this was not guaranteed. The beta ending dialog from SA2 implicated a continuation of the Adventure storyline. This was changed in the final version as the approaching demise of Sega Enterprises became more blatant. There was some minor experimentation for SA3, but as Sega Enterprises met its end all further hardware and software development was shut down. Sega fell into Sammy Holdings, becoming Sega corporation and has been a dumpster fire of never-ending failure ever since.

If you didn't know about the cannons, you very clearly didn't get all of the Adventure Field Emblems on the Egg Carrier. You have to fire Sonic into one of the boxes in front of the cannons to do it.

Iizuka already debunked that too. When Heroes came around he didn't want to make Sonic Adventure 3 specifically because he and the rest of the team felt like making Adventure 3 would cement Sonic's identity in just that one way and make them unable to move away from it. Heroes plays IMMENSELY differently to Sonic Adventure or Sonic Adventure 2 and the overall feel of the games following Heroes has varied greatly. 06 may have been trying to use a familiar sort of game design to the Adventure games to deliver a fantastic experience but it was put through the wringer by fans and critics since Sega pressured Sonic Team to meet a Christmas deadline so it could be pushed out for the holidays. Ironically enough, that deadline not being flexible, the lack of manpower due to producing Secret Rings at the time AND Naka leaving during Development to form his own Company, Prope Ltd, is what doomed the project.
