We know that there is a BIG difference. Celebrities are just different. Whether famous or not they look and feel like they are unattainable. Probably because they actually need talent to enter a world where they belong. The fact that you could only see their skills through big budget films, TV shows, music videos, live performance or what not. The influencers on the other hand are famous because of their ubiquitous presence on the online platforms and most of the content they create doesn't really validate them as an A-list celebrity.

Idk, I did feel the influencers devalued the events and made them more superficial in a sense. A lot of them got famous for their looks only, not for any talents (that I’m sure they have). Hollywood is superficial enough as it is but at least “real” celebrities (as much as their looks may have helped) are mostly famous for their work. Now I wouldn’t mind if the Kardashians for example were uninvited as well.

TALENT. TALENT. To be famous for acting or singing you have to have some TALENT. And even if we disagree on talent level you GOTTA WORK to actually be considered one. Influencers can walk away from their channels and social media and have them run by others 90% of the time while making celebrity money. Actors and singers do actually have to devote energy and solid blocks of time to performing and recording and touring. I'm sorry but it isn't the same.

@jasonmoukala8909 I don't watch many big youtubers but look at any big youtuber like mr.beast or that a lot of youtubers have over 10 million subs. A lot of a list celebs show up because of their parents and are immediately excepted. To me the argument is more old vs new money coded. They both make money but depending where you started is where you categorized. Same way singers collab, influncers collab and so do influencers and celebs collab with eachother.

I like Hailey but when I saw the live, she walked out of the hotel, took pictures, and went back in to make TikTok’s and shorts of the celebrities walking by. And on her channel it only shows the hotel so maybe she wasn’t really invited to the Met.

Social media influencers aren’t going anywhere as companies see the level of engagement they have with their followers and make deals. Some have a celebrity all their own. I am sure we will see more at future events.
